I also think the OP is referring to a Hoverboard which is the newest craze among the younger generations. I wouldn't want to see either myself or my husband (at this age).

Ron_Ski is close to correct. The bottom photo on his post was indeed a Hoverboard.

However the top photo was a Mobility Scooter.

Hoveround is a brand name. They manufacture both motorized wheelchairs (which was their first product) and Mobility Scooters (which they now offer also.)

Hoveround's motorized wheelchair is pictured below.

I have seen several people riding them on streets, some just neighborhood streets, but today I saw one on Avenida Central trying to make a left turn into the Winn Dixie (VERY busy light) parking lot.

I've only seen it once here in TV, but if memory serves me correctly I believe we (FL) have had several deaths from auto vs mobility chair. One was south of Leesburg when the chair operator tried to cross 441.

Your picture was a Hoveround brand Mobility Scooter; not a "Hoveround."

The more correct designation for the photo would be Mobility Scooter, not Hoveround since Hoveround is the brand name of multiple products including power wheelchairs, Mobility Scooters, automotive power lifts and wheelchair ramps.

Probably a minor point, but I try to be precise. I meant no offense.
