Schwartz has a track record as an activist. He now has another notch on his belt.

I totally agree! I am so sad that this has happened. To me it was one of the best things the Villages offered. What a shame that a few can ruin it for the rest of us.

The opera house is next door to Schwartz. We moved in next door to them (opera house) and I talked to the lady about the loud opera music and explained how annoying it is to golfers. That was a few years ago, very nice lady, and she hasn't done it anymore that I know of.

It would appear to be appropriate for her to step forward and give some input to the residents.

Eight years is a long time to keep this secret about something that profoundly affects this community. Janet Tutt, John Rohan (also mentioned in docs), a Morse rep, et al, all have some 'splaining to do.

Just a few weeks ago TV held the LLC EXPO with all the hoopla when the powers that be knew full well the LLC was likely near its death. What a hoax!

This is a defeat I would think. He did not help those with hearing disabilities. He just helped to close a Center that thousands enjoy.

There are often egos involved in these fights so maybe he is swaggering because of this but I doubt it.

Post this thread on Facebook if you have a Facebook account. And if you do not maybe you should get one.

This may change some hearts and minds. Get it to go viral and you may see some changes.

And there is also GoFundMe for raising money for something to replace the Lifelong Learning College. It may take a year or two.

If you have a FB account put this Schwarz guy's name in the search engine and a whole bunch of his posts and comments come up..most seem to have to do with "activism". I can see being an activist BUT he seems to be one on steroids. SIGH! He seems to have a "bone to pick" on a lot of many levels...jmho. Hopefully this litigation with the LLLC will fizzle out and not put any $$$$ in his pocket. I don't know much about the law...but he's just got way too much time on his hands and loves to spoil LIFE for those around him

the speech to text program was tried in 2012. I'm sure technology has improved greatly since then. When I use my phone's speech to text for messaging it does an amazingly accurate job.

I think it would be great if more people learned to sign to be able to offer help. Maybe there's a class at the LLC, oh wait, forget that.

I agree...how come a few has the power over the majority! What kind of democracy do we have in this country. I certain believe every effort should be made to accommodate individuals with disabilities. But how far must they push.....why does it end up that no one is allowed access because of unreasonable demands of a few.

Most intelligent post I have read,

This entire dispute has eliminated any reasonable resolution to the problem. The offended people have not provided their oppressed group of any solution. The defendant has taken the position that they can not satisfy the offended with any reasonable solution. So the problem has been eliminated, the hearing impaired will not be able to attend any further learning sessions, and the 18,000, other participants will not be able to attend either. Problem solved???

Clubs were a target of these people - the legal papers quoted above. The judge dropped the clubs from the suit as there was no reason for a suit against the clibs.

Really upset over this. First we lose Latie Bealls. Now our lifelong college! Something doesn't sound right with this
