Living in Villas with One Car Garage
I look at homes occasionally for a possible move. I've seen some villas that were interesting at times. Very good views. Good location. Nice neighborhood. (I know...I know...find a bad one. Heheh.) But many have a single car garage.
I'm assuming many folks who live in such a home have a car and a golf cart. How do you handle your vehicles? The cart out all of the time? Seems a bit risky even in TV. Car out all the time? Not very good for the paint job. Swap car/cart so car is only out overnight and cart is out only during the day? Or am I missing something? Thanks for any input. |

Most of the one car garages have enough room for a golf cart and a car, a bit tight but it does work.

There are some villas with two car garages near Spanish Springs.

We are in a patio villa. Easily get our cart and our car (Kia Soul) into the garage at the same time. In an emergency, I could probably fit a second cart in there. It would take some maneuvering, and be a PIA, but it could be done.

We are snow birds who own a patio villa. I love my home but soooooooooooo wish I had a 2 car garage. If you are planning on being a full time resident I would encourage you to have a 2 car or 2 car plus golf cart garage.

Our Courtyard Villa has an oversize 2 car garage....it may not be big enough for my Tbird the Edge and a golf cart...

Inadequate at best! Very tight if you have other things in the garage. You will find making every available space useful. I back my cart in, easier than trying to back it out. It also depends on where you’re heater/AC or washer and dryer located? IMO I like ones with the washer and dryer against back wall. That way you don’t have to pull the vehicle out to do washing if you have large vehicle and cart.

We widened our 1 car garage 4' to make it a 2 car garage. There wasn't enough property to add a GC garage due to the 5' setbacks on the side. It's not a Villa but a 2/2 Colony. We only have 1 car but our GC which is really our 2nd car has doors so there was no way to open them next to our SUV. The garage was my ONLY regret after buying this place.

Remember your garage is your basement. Think about what you might want to store in the garage. You can put up ceiling storage racks for items you may not normally use but you will have to use a ladder to get to them. Remember you should not store items that can be damaged by heat. I think the size of the garage is more important than most think.

Here is the kicker ya need an " End " unit vs a Corner Lot Some corner lots support a Golf Cart Garage..." Some ". The rules have changed a lot check out various Villa Communities. One huge plus...Take out the grass, quiet, security, pet-friendly, as opposed to the obvious. Courtyard Villas aren't for everyone but the improvements that we made for us ours is perfect. Check Out the St Charles area Ideal location. Hope this helps. We had none |
