live is the biggest issues.. and schooling/learn medical .. when so many young people are stilling living in the basement waiting for the next hand out.. My husband was in the Villages hospital in July, with short staff, he had good care .. it's not a resort for the demanding, it's in and out.. hospital is too small for the area, new one being built in the suburbs/south of 44 ..

I recommend Advent Health/Waterman, in Taveres, on 441. It’s more of a drive, but A rating and very nice,

The only thing that will fix this is pressure from state and local government.

Wish the developer would push higher standards for the village hospital but guess it is not necessary to keep selling more homes. After all he is the one with the clout

And the food is actually good!

Question....what if you have a good say heart doctor and have to go to the hospital for a procedure but he his your doctor is it ok to go to the villages hospital as long as in his care?

I agree The Villages and Leesburg gave me excellent care. Unfortunately, short staffed.

What if a doctor/surgeon is greatly skilled but has to rely on substandard clinical support staff or on the crappy conditions in a facility? I guess you have to marry the best of each facet of care. My mother died after an excellent procedure only to succumb to poor post operative monitoring and care in a Philadelphia hospital. Nursing care was laissez-faire at best.

Don't forget we DON'T have Certified ER docs manning both Emergency Depts. My PC doc said for him to get hospital privileges he would have to do shifts in the ER. He declined - said I am not qualified to be an ER doc. UF health rep confirmed the lack of certified ER docs at one of the question/answer mtgs.

Multiple states, multiple hospitals in my system available as a traveler. Extreme top pay for all positions.

Why they all Need Staff, working short staffed for over 3 years. Many health care workers were not given a choice during Covid, their department’s shuttered, for close to 2 years. Many just retired if they could, like I did (then returned to different areas. But only a small amount of certain staff was retained, causing long hours, and care went south. Those who worked burned out, because hospitals choose to furlough too high of a percentage to save money.

ED department ‘s are the most abused, filled with too many who should have gone to urgent care.

Most Hospitals have always had some “B”, “C” ratings for many years, but leapfrog is not a score to worry about. Lack of staff is a major concern, but it will take years to fix. UF new build will be a teaching hospital, with residents and students abound. Then you will be seen by no less than 10 eager new to the field fresh faces every day

You would think TV would fix the hospital they have now before building a new one in the south end. Gonna be another money pit with poor health care.

The OP provided you a link to look at the information. This company, Leapfrog, using its metrics gave the Villages a B in the Spring 2022 rating. It is not hard to find. There are other agencies that also rate hospitals using different criteria. CMS uses a 1 to 5 scale

Despite all the glowing comments posted on TOTV by patients who say that while the ER is a disaster once you are admitted the care is wonderful... the CMS survey of patients done after discharge shows a very low satisfaction score and that fewer than half those surveyed would recommend the hospital to others.
