We were having a problem with slow drainage from our shower, washing machine, toilet, etc. The plumber we hired could not locate the access place / port on the outside of our house to snake and clear the line. He had to remove the toilet and clear it from there. Everything worked out fine. However for future reference where can we find a schismatic (?) that shows it’s location. We both walked around the house and could not see a visible cover, etc. Thank you.

It might have been grown over with grass.

You might try contacting the Sumter county to see if they have the location of the clean out, ours was located on the outside, very near the master bath toilet. As mentioned above, it may be covered over by grass or landscaping if the gardens have been altered. Not sure if a 811 (buried facilities) call will find it. Pipes are plastic so, a metal detector will not help. I do not have any other ideas.

I would suggest checking again along the street side* of your house, check close to the house.
Mine is located street side just right of the driveway very close to the house (approx.16” from sidewall).
There is a shrub planted near it, and if it that wasn’t trimmed back I would have never noticed it!
*Residential sewer main is usually under the street.

My cleanout is on the street side, about 4 feet from the corner of the garage, under a bush. It is a white plastic pipe about 4 inches in diameter, and extends about 2 inches above the ground. I would suggest that you walk around the neighborhood and look to see where other houses have them because yours is likely in a similar location.

Tap the ground with a broomstick where you think it might be. You will hear a hollow sound when you find it.

Also, if both of your bathrooms are on one side of the house, then I would search that side and front first.

We have one on the back side of our house, by the back wall of the 2nd master suite that was added by the previous owners. T&D says if we decide to proceed with a pool we need to have it relocated. Oh, joy ...

If you mention the type of house people with the same model can tell you where theirs is. We have a Gardenia, and ours is just outside the golf cart wall, easily visible.

I think if you walk around your neighborhood, you may see these cleanout pipes on other houses because they are supposed to be above ground. That may give you an idea of where your pipe is located. Mine is under a bush.

You might have several along the sides of your home and one between the house and the sewer. Other than asking for the blueprint from the construction office you could look at similar homes under construction and hope that your layout is similar to theirs.

Go outside where you think it would be and have someone inside with your cell phone. Have them call your phone with another phone and while it's ringing have them flush it down the toilet. You should be able to hear it ringing as it sails by..........Sorry, I couldn't resist it.

I have a Gardenia. My drain cover was cover by grass. It was about four feet from the right side corner. It took some time but I used a screw driver and kept punching the ground until I found the clean out. Good luck
