Sounds a little dangerous. I heard they did have safety volunteers of some sort.

Tried once to visit that indoor range in the south Villages area. On a trip back from Tampa figured I would look and see. Got there about 15 minutes before closing but they had locked the place up and were leaving already. Did not seem very professional, never got to look at it. I have not heard good things about it.

The range on 44 is an old range but it seems to do a pretty good business.....and I suspect that will continue if Shooters World gets too busy. It will also be interesting how many non-villages will be using Shooters World. There are probably enough guns here to keep both ranges busy.

drove by yesterday, only a sign. No actual work being done, oesnt appear it will be here anytime soon.

There was a story by the Straight Shooters that their Range Officers who hold classes at that place have all tested positive for dangerous levels of lead. The cause of this would be poor ventilation. They have subsequently cancelled all further classes untill Shooters World arrives. They have a state of the art ventilation system. If one needs to shoot in the meantime I would recommend OSA in Ocala. It is an outdoor range.

That is absolutely not true! It is a very closely supervised range. The range is not open without an RSO on duty! I happen to be one and we are certified and have been trained and tested by the NRA.
There are separate pistol and rifle ranges. You will not shoot on either range without supervision.

That is good to know, thank you for an experienced opinion!

What are the best days and times to go, least busy?

You sure we're talking about the Ocala Forest range? Must be better now that when I was there a couple of years ago.

Not the Ocala National Forest Range. The Ocala Sportsman's Association Range. It's a members only range

Sure. My post #15 was only about the national forest range.

I'm looking forward to going to OSA with the Straight Shooters soon.

Maybe you're talking about some other range, but you quoted 'Buzzy' and he was answering a question about Ocala National Forest Range. I shot at the Ocala National Forest Range in 2013 and there was no supervision, there was a rifle range and a second range was for shotguns. I just looked at their website and it states right on the front page;

"...Ocala Shooting Range is open to the public when classes are not in session. It is unsupervised, so cooperation among shooters is a must! While backboards are provided, they must be maintained. Shooters should bring their own targets and tacks or staples, and those using the shotgun range should bring their own targets."

I haven't been back, but I would go again but not by myself. I've even read on message boards that when you go down range make sure you leave someone behind to watch your guns. I felt fairly safe, most people listened when someone was giving instructions and everyone got behind the line before others went down range. I just haven't had the time, or the people to go with, to make it back there.

PS: Sorry for piling on. I was on page 2 reading when I caught the mistake and didn't see that Buzzy handled it himself, carry on.

Thanks for the clarifications.

So, would I need a concealed weapons permit to transport my gun in my golf cart since there is no "trunk".
