Default Logistical Move Comparisons - Any Help?

We are in the process of moving our other house in the north to TV. Fortunately we have sold or are selling most items so the move will be about the equivalent of 14-16 ft rental truck. (2 bdrm apt comparison). Here is what we have found for reference purposes, and if someone knows of a less expensive option, we would welcome your input.
MOVERS: (Company - Load, Haul, Unload, Insure)
Stevens - Moved first house. Price for this move = $2245
Others were higher

RENTAL TRUCKS: (Personal - Load, Haul, Unload, Gas) 6 days allowed
1300 miles @ $3.799 avg gas prices. Excl: meals, any hotel if stay
Budget - Price = $1310 + $200 car gas
Penski - Price = $1393 + $200 car gas. Newer trucks, roadside assistance 24/7

POD MOVES: (Personal Load, Company Haul, Personal Unload) 3 days haul
U-Pack - Price = $2498 + $200 car gas
Mayflower - Price = $2755 + $200 car gas
U-haul - Price = $1826 + $200 car gas
PODS - No price, Out of Region

CAR HAULERS: (Company Pick-up at house, deliver to house)
AAA Auto Transport (recommended) - Price $995 less $200 if at site 100 miles away
Range - Price $795 - $1200

Any other suggestions?

Checked that too:
$120 for 2 wheel or $210 for car on trailer. I am not too keen on that though driving the car 1300 miles up and down mountains, cities, traffic, pit stops, etc. Haven't done it except for short hauls and know the constant "tugging" and tight spaces is more stressful than I want to consider. My better half likes the idea somewhat though since we can ride together. Otherwise I will buy a 2 way radio system to communicate.

If nothing more, at least maybe I have helped others with options they may want to consider and their costs to save them some time.

We are getting bids now. We are packing ourselves (or should I say I'm packing ourselves) and only bringing a queen bed, piano (maybe an organ unless we can get rid of it here), breakfast table and chairs, and lots of boxes.

Haven't heard back from the first estimate. Another coming tomorrow. We opted to just let someone come load and deliver. Gave up on the idea of PODS, or U-Haul truck. Getting too old for that!

Your bids were most helpful and I appreciate you sharing!

See ya' in "paradise"!!!

Figures to possibly add in if you move yourself...you might need help unloading on this end.

The only other thing to take into consideration is time of move. How long it would take PODS, Stevens etc to deliver. We got lucky and had door to door. So we were only without for about 3 days (travelled 600 miles) they dropped us off first

Stress of driving a truck or just driving yourselves, hotel on the road somewhere because I assume you would take at least two days to drive down in vehicle or truck 1300 miles safely.

Wish you guys luck

Glad I could help. We too in this move are only bringing 2 mattresses (have the bedroom outfits), organ, office desk, chair, some tools, and LOTS of boxes too!
BTW... Talk to John Hopkins at Stevens Moving 810 625 3881. He is most helpful and up front. No hidden fees, thorough, and cares!

Thank you for your thoughts. We too have driven it once and didn't mind the drive at all. ad fun on the way down although did it in one day. I just don't care for the idea of my bride driving herself. She is not crazy about driving at night. Hard part is finding a SAFE place to stay and when we want to stop. We even checked with AAA, AARP, some travel sites, etc for places. Not many are going to tell you the "condition and territories" We just know that some of the trips we have taken, and chat often about travelers close to some of the areas we know of how they would be "in harms way" so to say in some neighborhoods and not knowing it. Soooo we will probably drive through and leave early.
Heck... we EVEN thought of bringing down a friend of hers to ride with her and than she could see how nice it is here but she wasn't available.

We took two loads here, a pod (heavy stuff) and a rental truck (lighter stuff).
It worked out fine, I don't know any less expensive alternatives and your prices are about right. you can get labor on either end if you need it, easy enough and cheap enough
