This week the Southern Baptist Convention reconfirmed its earlier vote, 9,000 to 1,000, to expel from fellowship several churches that had women as pastors. They did this because they believed the Bible forbids “a woman to teach.” They want to do what the Bible says, what Jesus said. Yet how much of that do they ignore? Whitewashed sepulchers! I think Christian churches should deal with “our country’s desperate situation” by following Christ’s teachings, not by urging people to vote for T. or D or waving flags. I’m a patriot, but I don’t think that belongs in church. And it seems to me that the teachings and actions of the ex-president are the antithesis of what it means to be a Christian. After that vote, I’d say “Come out of her, my people!” The Dragon, the Beast, and the False Prophet are all three among us, and they can be found in the sorts of churches you are looking for. I hope you can find a church that will lead you back to true Christianity instead of the worship of what you call “traditional conservative values”. There are REAL traditional conservative American values to be found in a few churches, but they are churches where people spend long hours reading their Bibles, care for each other, pray together, and don’t think Fox News is the voice of God.

Huh? The Constitution states Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion. How do you extrapolate that to mean that people of faith cannot be patriotic? In fact, the Constitution expressly protects their right to do so.

We attended church there in April. They indicated they were staying in the UMC.

Since then we have been attending The Living Hope Church (formerly The First United Methodist Church of Clermont).
They recently disaffiliated from the UMC and changed their name. They are joining the traditional Global Methodist church.
It’s 30 minutes from our home in Newell but we feel it’s worth it for the straight forward conservative message.
Also very community and mission focused.

It always amuses me when those who pontificate for their news channels, their faith point of view and so called political leanings, feel they can tell everyone else how wrong they are with their faith. Mando got busy and dragged his political aspirations into the conversation and you are right there with the back clap. POLITICAL view points are banned on this forum….

The OP specified that they were looking for a church that supported patriots. If you sincerely have a problem with political viewpoints, rather than MY viewpoint, you would've started there. You just have a problem with MY viewpoint because it isn't yours. And that's okay. But don't pretend you have a problem with political viewpoints. No one is buying it.
