Couple of years ago, plans called for new WD at corner of MicroRacetrack & 466A.
Even with new mega apartment complex on opposite side of intersection, guessing groceries won’t be coming to that corner.

In my opinion, too bad for us Villagers. To me, from the few times I've been in an ALDI's, they seem to be one step up from a gas station convenience store: limited, cluttered, grubby, disorganized and a poor selection of quality healthy food. But I guess cheap likes cheap. However, I can't argue with their success.

What was said yesterday
The Winn Dixie liquor store will be moved to the side where the produce is today, the liquor store will be bigger then it is today. The old liquor store will be rented out.
Good news is the are keeping today’s employees

I am going to mis Winn-Dixie chicken wing bar. Maybe better for my health.

Do you think we can use Publix plastic bags?

I would rather have Save A Lot move there rather than Aldi.

Yes. Do you think the "free" plastic bags at Publix are free? LOL

I rather they incorporate it into the groceries price than have to constantly have bags with me.

That's certainly a reasonable position, but I'm sure others would prefer to bring their own bags if it saved them money. Bonus: Reusable bags are better for the environment.

Ick. Save A Lot is not an enjoyable experience. YMMV

Yep, it’s less than a dime

ALDIs has paper bags, I think they are 7 cents a piece? I grab a couple with my groceries as I’m checking out.

I absolutely love Aldi. Prices are way cheaper, smaller store, etc.

THE absolute best produce in the area, all USA raised and processed meat, and outstanding wild caught ALASKAN salmon in season. I lift Florida for undergrad and grad school in Illinois long ago. First time I'd heard of "Aldi", was not impressed, stuff all over the floor in boxes, "meat" was limited to lunch meats, definitely a place only poor graduate students would go for basics. All these years later I "almost" never took the time to shop in Aldi's beautiful new stores here in The Villages... LOVE Aldi, and can't wait for all the holiday ingredients so difficult to find.

Agreed…. We tried Aldi’s a couple of times years ago and it was a miserable experience. We went to an Aldi’s recently in TV and we were impressed compared to our prior visits.

Not fond of bringing our own bags, but it still beats the heck out of paying Publix and WD’s ridiculous prices.

Aldi’s is now part of our grocery repertoire with Walmart, Sam’s, Target, and Kroger.

Walmart has pretty cheap groceries and they give you plastic bags so I'm not really buying that saving money in Aldi's is because they charge for bags.

i like some items in aldi s but quite a few are genetically modified ingredients

Wondering if the Winn Dixie liquor store next to the supermarket will remain open? It’s really the only place close to Lake Sumter Landing to quickly grab a cold six pack.
