Harley's are annoying to me but I do know that loud pipes save lives ~ and that's more important than 2 seconds of the 'annoying sound'! Ride on and stay safe!

Well said, I totally agree :bigbow:

How about the newer generations bass boomers that take up the trunk of their car and the sound they share with the whole neighborhood?

That's an excuse, jap or European bikes aren't loud until you open them up. I don't mind deep toned baffled straight through sound, but straight pipes are ridiculous. You can tell the ones that got straight pipes when they let off the back pressure louder than the acceleration. Baffles muffle the back pressure.

I had several 50s, 60s and early 70s cars. Flat head ford with glasspacks (or steelpacks before 1965) was about the sweetest sound I heard, my stock 69 GTX with 440/375 idle was sweet with factory mufflers, nice loop with high lift cam and factory idle speed.

use to do with new glass packs pour diesel in them no burn them out, but they still had baffling.

Exactly my feelings. Ah, my youthful days with my '66 Chevelle SS396. That was one badass car; best quarter-mile time was 10.75. I wish I still had it.

My dream car-----a '50 Ford custom conv flathead V-8 with steelpaks. Doesn't get any better than that....sigh.....someday.

No doubt you've never had the experience of nearly being run over by a villages who can't see the motorcycle, can't hear the motorcycle, or just doesn't care about the motorcyclists well being. Weather you agree or not, loud pipes save lives!

I have to agree nothing before or since has ever sounded better the early 50's
Ford or Merc flatheads with glass packs or steelies

All that illegal noise whether stereo or engine, is inconsiderate and rude. It scares my dog.

I hope your dog isn't an annoying barker!

V8s Forever

If you think my Mustang is too loud turn down your hearing aid!

Also, jet noise, the sound of freedom. I still love the sound of a fast moving fighter jet flying low.

Man, a 10 second quarter mile from an SS396. That's drag strip only time. Fastest street car in the day was the '70 Hemi Cuda in the low 13's. It's amazing how the muscle cars now are faster than the ones we grew up with. I thought 1972 was the end.

Actually 1971 was the end of the muscle cars. Only the 360 hp solid lift 396s in 66 had the grunt, obviously it was't stock.
