Funny, I noticed the same thing trying to get gas at Sams the other day. And checking out at Walmart. And trying to get a tee time -- and when I finally got one, the greens and tees were a mess! And the guys who are perpetually working on 441 apparently messed up the lights last January, just to make sure we hit every single one! Did you notice how they never removed all the cones and stuff when they finished the new lanes? Crazy!

It's just weird. I've lived here four years, and I've noticed that in January it always goes crazy, just like a big city, for about four months every year -- and then suddenly like magic, in May it becomes a friendly small town in Florida again.

The only thing I can think of is, all those Florida folks who moved here to just to wait on us for $13.50/hr must go crazy in the winter when the temperature drops below 60! It must be a "Florida Man" thing!

So I don't know if another Home Depot is going to help. They'll just have to hire another batch of Florida folks to man it, and they'll go crazy for four months every year, too, right?

How's that working out? I stand by my original point

What's the old saying: "If you know what your looking for go to Lowe's"
"If you don't know what your looking for go to Home Depot or Ace."

To compare Home Depot with Ace is ridiculous...

I NEVER can find someone to help me in Home Depot, either in FL, or when back in MD... Lowes is hit and miss...

Ace is light years ahead in terms of customer service. Yes, they are more expensive, but many times it's worth it...

Comparing Ace to Lowe's is about the same as comparing Publix to Wal-Mart.

Good thing I didn't say they were comparable... Is "hit or miss" confusing?

Florida does create a lot of low paying jobs(tourism, hospitality, construction workers). To make matters worse most of the housing is designed for 55+ people

I’ve never had a problem at the Lowe’s on 466 eight the store is always clean. Employees are always friendly and I’ve never had a problem checking out because I always go to the self check out.

Hopefully the new Home Depot will be managed better than the Wildwood Lowe’s. I’ve never run into a store with more things out of stock than the Wildwood Lowe’s.

I was at the Lady Lake Lowes right after we moved here about 1.5 years ago. I wanted to buy a golf cart but my wife wanted the one in stock at the Wildwood store which was a color she liked better. The guys in the outdoor section wrote me up to have the one in Wildwood delivered and told me to take the paper work up to the register. I handed the paperwork to the lady at the register and said I was buying a golf cart. "Golf cart? We don't sell golf carts," she said. I pointed to one sitting not 50 feet away and said, "See that? That's a golf cart." Neither she nor the people in customer service could figure out how to have an item in stock at another store delivered so I figured I'd just drive down to Wildwood and buy it there. Lucky for me as a neighbor had an extra one and he made me a one-time good deal when he heard I was looking for a cart. These days, I see the lady at that register now seems to be the checkout supervisor or something.

Cass......you need to go EARLY to Lowe's. By 8:30 the latest and you will be in and out quickly. Same goes for the Walmart Neighborhood store....EARLY, at least this time of year. If you can't get there early ( or don't try) it's your own fault

The Ace on 301 closes at 5:30. Ridiculous!

It's a great store.
Good people, Good products, Good prices.
Glad we have it here on "the South side".

We have a major shortage in this country of low wage/service sector workers (FL no exception). If your point was construction workers, I agree, but the former, good luck with that theory.

Florida minimum wage may be low, but retailers pay above that and have for years.
