Default Lsl lighthouse fog horn!

LSL HARBOR MASTER,@ Lighthouse fog horn...I understand a fog horn during the hurricane, and foggy days and nights for safety reasons on the lake...But, on clear days and nights, please turn off the fog horn...Keeping me up at night...

We always loved the sound of the Lake Michigan fog horn at the Muskegon channel, a block away from our bedroom. Very eerie and soothing at the same time. In fact, the memory of it's putting me to sleep as we speazzzzz...zz..z

There's no boating allowed on Lake Sumter except by permission, the dragon boat teams. So why would anybody worry about bad boating conditions? The closest boating would be Lake Miona, which does allow boating, skiing, fishing, etc.

Maybe the OP is hearing the horn in the square that sounds every hour. I'm not there late so I don't know if that horn sounds late at night or not.

I would suspect the OP is pulling our collective leg.

I have been here for 8 (wonderful) years and never heard a foghorn from Lake Sumter. I do enjoy the distant train whistles at night.

I enjoy the hour whistle on Lake Sumter Landing square - and my watch is always right on time.

The fog horn is sounded for the safety of the cruise ships. Sometimes they tie up to the docks at night.
