I would be willing to bet an ice-cold Yeungling draft that we will see plenty of formerly licensed LSV's going well above the legal speed limit of 20 mph. Any takers?

I wouldn't take that bet. I'll be the first on the phone to SCSO when they start flying by.

As far as the whiners who think that I shouldn't have taken advantage of the credits, if I don't take them someone else will, nothing illegal or immoral about it.

This new law will allow me to clean up my paperwork as I de-streeted both my carts two years ago.

gustavo: The bigger issue is that politicians are using credit rebates tax deductions to serve their political needs. Billions have been directed toward credit rebates tax deductions in the name of green energy an indusry that has totally failed but fed polticians campaign coffers. so it was sad to see such an obvious credit rebate directed at golf carts when in fact with or without it the cart would have been purchased. It was a close up in your face look at government waste...and that is what disturb residents...and so to say someone will take advantage..... doesn't sit well with residents who refused government handouts and who spent a lifetime taking care of their own obligations.

Those so called LSV's will return to LSV's because those folks won't adjust to 19.9mph

lsv speed

the difference between 20 and 25 mph is not a big deal either way up or down. the tomberlin has a switch which makes the speed 20 or 25. whatever sped one wants or needs. the 20mph mode is for on the golf course and the other is for the road. frankly 5mph sn't a lot of difference. for the poster to say he'll call the sheriff when he sees a speeding lsv doing 25mph is folly.

I believe that F=m(VxV) hope that is still the formula.
Therefore a 25% increase in speed would be quite significant if an impact occured.

The real problem is the long lines at DMV when these thousands of LSV owners want to get their carts returned to golf cart status!!!

:read: I trust you are joking. It is going to be difficult to tell the difference as a cart goes by. My guess is that over half the golf carts now using the trails will go more than 20mph. The tax credit was available to anybody that wanted to take advantage of such----same as a tax deduction for the mortgage on your home and investing your cash elsewhere. I say more power to anyone who can legally pay less taxes.

My concern is when I am crossing the bridge by Lake Sumter Landing and I see a Gem Car coming at me in the opposite lane on that narrow bridge. There will not be enough room for both of us!

LSV's

For all you whiners out there who are worried that the LSV people got a tax credit 4 years ago that's too bad. First of all you had to quality for the tax credit, and if you didn't quality you wouldn't get the total rebate. I know you would turn down a rebate when you bought a new car, Right !! Second of all the Insurance Company's had the Goose that laid the golden egg for 4 years. In 4 years the Insurance rates for LSV's went up 500-600 a year, now who's screwing who, excuse the pun. There isn't a day go by that I don't see a gas golf cart going faster than 20 MPH, and there are people out there that go much faster that 25 MPH, I have a guy down my street that can go 32MPH, and he brags about it all the time, by the way these are all GAS golf carts. I think all the whiners should find something else to complain about and please don't look in the mirror.

How many of those so adamantly opposed to this bill expressed your position to your duly elected State of Florida Representative .... who also just happens to be the bills sponsor.

The new law requires the following:
The department shall issue a decal reflecting the conversion of the vehicle to a golf cart, upon which is clearly legible the following text: “CONVERTED VEHICLE. Max speed 20 mph.” The decal must be displayed on the rear of the vehicle, so that the decal is plainly visible.
So anyone driving their converted vehicle over 20mph will be subject to the same hefty fine as other golf carts.

If everyone is traveling the posted 10 mph, it won't be a problem.
I tried the 10 mph limit once. Sounded like a parade behind me, with everyone blowing their horns...

DonH57 06-19-2013 08:41 AM

NoMoSno, I've repeatly had the same parade on that bridge and the one going into Spanish Springs on Paige Pl multiple times. Can't count how many times I've been passed and the occasional gestures. Very apparent those speed limit areas are never enforced.

and if the decal is never affixed or is removed and the license plate remains affixed - will anyone know that the cart that is on the roadway has been converted from an lsv to a golfcart?
