I glad you were able to. And when I went to school in Michigan the gym Coach and Principal could paddle! Fast forward to 2012

Would have got you fired in NY unless you were a admin had reasonable cause permission from the super and then the Police with there with you there.

Just what we had to deal with. Other schools are more strick some not so.

This is the day of cell phones. Students parent(s) and lawyer are there before you get your locker key.

No, Marion County, but I'm sure Wildwood has the same problems, as well as The Charter School and all the rest, unfortunately.....

With the desperation with this economy and rampant drug use just outside your gates, I highly recommend that all show due diligence in keeping your homes secure.

Jbdl, oh, that's terrible. Did you learn from the investigation how they were stealing drugs from the elderly? There don't seem to be that many break-ins in TV; and middle school children are not permitted to live here? Are they visiting relatives and raiding the medicine cabinets?

Well comments on this thread dispell the myth that crime is not a problem here. Prescription drugs use outpaces other drugs.

Many residents here leave their arage doors open .. My wife isan offfender and no matter how many times i remind her she has gotten in the bad habit of forgetting. I also have two neighbors who leae their garage upall day. they are only inviting critters in including

Glad they caught these guys but apparently there are more out there like himlegged ones.

Some were relatives, some where from break-ins in and around The Vllages. In some cases, thefts of medications are not reported (this according to law enforcement involved) for various reasons. And as I have mentioned before, there are some middle schoolers living in The Villages, but the ones I know are not involved. Most of the drugs and the culprits live in The Shores area.

You would think that we would have heard of break ins and certainly heard if underage kids were living here.

The housing area surrounding Silver Springs Shores Golf Course is known as "The Shores."

One thing mentioned by law enforcement is that in some cases, people don't even know they have items missing from theft. Some "elderly" either figure they have misplaced items or in some cases, are too embarassed to call authorities, much like in cases of scams. As for middle schoolers living in TV, it's a fact!

The reason I question this is in both neighborhoods that we have lived in here and in the neighborhoods of lots of friends who live here, we know who lives around us. We know who they are and what they do, because most of the time we are communicating on a daily basis. That is one of the reasons we are called the Friendliest Home Town. We are retired and we visit in each other's homes and plan activities together. We already have met with all of the new villagers here in our new village and know who they are, know about their family members and it is pretty universal that people have moved here knowing this is an adult community. As much as they like kids, they wouldn't tolerate those rules being broken.

I think that I remember that you are a teacher who lives off campus.

Since that is 17+ miles from The Villages not sure why it is relevant to this discussion?

The middle school age children living in TV are in the family villages.

Yes I do live off site, but in May I will be a resident, not that it matters. I'm sorry that you and others refuse to accept the reality, but it is true. I personally know these kids, quite well as a matter of fact. I met the grandparents on several occasions, including open houses at school. Not every neighboorhood is as closeknit as yours. I'm not attempting to upset anyone, I just know what I know. As for the Shores being 17 miles away, that is true. But the school they attend is not, or their entertainment areas, the squares.

There is nothing wrong with middle school kids or high school kids from outside The Villages using our town squares, stores, or restaurants. It is a good safe place for them to go. I have observed plenty of high school kids at The Church On The Square grounds at night and they are just hanging around - not smoking, not drinking, just socializing.

I surely think if kids were living in The Villages proper that someone in the neighborhood would "drop a dime" on their grandparents.

Yes Gracie, it is a severe problem for all ages. I was sharing an article I read and not staking any claim or picking on any one group. :)
