Marion Count Traffic Stops / Roundabout Info / Turn Signals
This was in the latest CCD4 notes:
The following statistics were provided by Lt. Tim O'Hara, Commander Mulberry Station, Marion County Sheriff's Office for the month of October 2007. During the month of October in the Villages area of Marion County, there were a total of 169 vehicle stops in the Villages area. 112 were either written warnings or citations and 57 were verbal warnings.
At the November Board of Supervisor's meeting, Lt. O'Hara from the Marion County Sheriff's Office attended and answered various questions that the Board Members had of him.
He clarified how drivers are to navigate roundabouts/turnabouts in the Marion County portion of The Villages. If a driver is traveling on the inside lane (lane closest to the center), they must use their turn signal to exit the roundabout and must yield to those drivers that are driving on the outside lane. If a driver is unable to safely exit from the inside lane then they must go around the roundabout again until they can safely exit the roundabout.
He also advised the group that a new state law requires all drivers to use their turn signals any time they are changing lanes and when they are making any turns.
