I was tired of the thread with the negative ...health issue or whatever when those of us who go just love the Farmers Market at Brownwood on Saturday.

I had to stay home so that the house watcher could pick up a friends keys but Sweetie went yesterday
and came home with enough radishes to last a family of 12 for two weeks, wonderful strawberries, leaf lettuce, and four different kinds of cookies. That is because I gave him NO instructions. He does better when I boss him a little.

My favorite vegetable stand is on the corner and it is two couples with their little kids.

He said it was just packed. It has become a huge success and one of my favorite places to shop for fresh vegetables and fruits.

Good idea Gracie - I love the market as well and was tired of weeding through the negatives to hear other's thoughts.

That's our favorite stand, also, Gracie! We were there yesterday. This week it was handmade soap, Florida beefsteak tomatoes and a beautiful plant that is now proudly in soil in one of our planting areas. I've been to a number of markets over the years....and the one at Haymarket Square in Boston was always my favorite. Now that I'm a bit older, the one at Brownwood is perfect....one can buy meat, fish, breads, pastas, pastries, coffee, soaps, jewelry, hand made items, fossil rocks and much more.

It's nice Sweetie went without a note....see what he brought home..... Probably nothing you might have bought, so you had a nice surprise!

I'm with you Gracie. We've been going there nearly every Saturday for some time now. We probably shouldn't since there is too much there that just looks too good to resist.

Now I don't know if it's just me or what, but it seems since the negative thread was started, that business there has picked up and the parking lot has been fuller. (Maybe bad publicity is better than no publicity in this case) At the French baker's stand (next to the coffee table) the waiting line has nearly doubled from what it was prior. Anyone else noticed that?

Political correctness has become such a norm in our sociey that if people disagree with us then they are negative.

As I use to remind my peers in the corporate world, disagreement is not disloyalty. This pronouncement was necessary because otherwise they would label you incorrectly to their political advantage..you get the point

So here we are on TOTV and if someone does not have a fondness or like for a particular restaurant, marketplace, Developer ,etc they are automatically labeled actually mis-labeled negative.

Come on guys let's be a little more fair and balanced with our opinions about others.

As to farmers markets remember that people move here from all over the world and perhaps where they moved from had super duper farmer markets and so the local ones kind of disappoint.

At a recent national prayer breakfast attended by Obama, etc Dr. Benjamin Carson gave a speech centered around the damage political correctness has done to our society,

If you have a mind look it up on You tube. Dr. Carson's speech was so thought provoking that the Wall Street Jourtnal went out of their way in an OP-Ed piece encouraging people to watch this video.

I encourage you to listen to it. This guy is brilliant

You are right...but what does HUGE HEALTH HAZARD At Farmers Market have to do with political correctness? It wasn't a HUGE health hazard. I got tired of being annoyed when I looked at that title. I don't care if people rave on about how the cucumbers were tasteless and someone bumped into them on purpose and someone was sitting in their chairs, like in the three bears. I just love Brownwoods Farmers Market and I wanted a thread about it that didn't sound like a fight was about to start.

I love the Farmers Market too. I'm especially fond of the varieties of cheese and all the bakery goods.

Y'all are completely missing the point. Some of us would like to praise and compliment the market and not be under the "huge health risk" umbrella. We've read all the negatives and all have value in someone's eyes, but sometimes it is just nice to be on the sunny side of the street. Don't think anyone is trying to stifle anything. Lighten up.

I'm with you Gracie.....LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the Brownwood Farmer's Market and obviously many, many other folks do as well!! The crowds have been increasing weekly. It's fun to go and maybe encounter someone you know. You can make it an "event"...pick up your produce etc., have some coffee. Then maybe take in a movie while there and/or stop and have a bite of lunch. I'm so happy they're doing this every week. What a great addition to the many other things to do here in our beloved new "home town"!!!!!!!

We got tomatoes, onions, and peppers, and I made yummy omlettes for breakfast this morning. The tomatoes are magnifique!!!
