One of the reasons UK has not yet 'shut down for business' is the experts do not expect the virus to peak until about June, and at the moment, containment is a better option than lockdown.
With that amount of time in lockdown, they believe people will be so p***ed off, they will start back to work, socialise etc, long before the peak and most infectious period is reached.
One of the very good reasons for not shutting schools, was that many parents in work would use grandparents as baby sitters.
That would put the least vulnerable, with the most vulnerable.
Whether our medical experts and health stategists are right, we will have to wait and see.

Yeah, my 85 year old dad almost died 6 weeks ago from RSV and Pnuemonia that started as the common cold...... glad he did not. That is why I know this is hystaria, it is nothing new. Covid-19 make people who are elderly or weak more suseptible to other things like that - just like colds and the FLU. What ****es me off is the people who are all concerned about this that don't get a FLU shot every year..

My granddaughter in NJ had a high school senior trip next week to Disney for 5 days they have been paying for since they were freshmen. Disney (as of now) won't even give a refund, only a "credit" for the park & hotel due to the rate. Almost 500 kids who after school is out in June will be going in all different directions so they can't possibly reschedule and even if it reopened in 2-3 weeks there would be no availability + chartering 2 planes etc. They haven't heard yet if even charter flights will be refunded. Teachers are working on it but there is a lot of money to be lost.

I also wonder if they will extend our yearly pass which expires June 1st.

The Villages is the only justifiable place for people to be nervous. Pretty much everyone is old and have underlying issues so I don’t blame The Villages. It’s the rest of the world that’s acting ridiculous.

In 1918 the world population was 1.8 billion. The Spanish Flu infected an estimated 500 million which resulted in 50 million deaths.

The world population today is 7.8 billion - 7X the size it was in 1918 with mobility 1000 fold over 1918.
