Well it looks like we are going to dodge the bullet. I have enough rice and beans for 20 neighbors for one day or me for 20 days. I'll let you know at the end of the month how much I still like rice and beans.

Case of Spam, large box of Sailor Boy Pilot Bread, filled tub (tried filling shower with limited success ) and jugs of water.

I should be good for a week.

At home I lowered my newly installed (yes, I went through ARC) 20' flagpole, took off the flag, put patio furniture in garage, locked grilled down to patio, made sure the generator started and filled everything up with fuel; at work we took the flags off the greens, secured all outside furniture, moved all merchandise away from the doors and taped the center and bottoms of our double entry doors and placed towels along the bottom to keep any wind driven rain from entering.

When I was kid in the early 50's living in S. Florida I can always remember a picture in the newspaper showing a neighborhood hurricane party with about a dozen or so neighbors having a good time and getting really drunk..........The next morning I think only 2 survived. They cautioned the danger of drinking during a time when judgement being impaired could hinder your decisions in dangerous situations.
I know it's hard to hold back and not have another one but your life may depend on it if your roof blows off.

Gassed up today. Wildwood police directed traffic at Colony gas station.
Offered rooms to friends in historical district.

Is the Historic District more vulnerable than elsewhere?

Wise thinking. You can always party after the storm.

My friends are in manufactured homes. That construction is less well suited to bear up than concrete. There are carports not so sturdy, and cars are vulnerable to debris. In some neighborhoods there is much yard art. Some areas have large trees.

I am not minimizing this for folks on the coast or flood areas and will hope that people keep themselves safe. Being this far inland and being in a modern home, the only thing I worry (too strong a word) about is the chance of a tornado.

aj: that's three point you know:D

I'm cooking frozen shrimp and mussels. I was saving for a rainy day anyway.
