If you read between the lines you see here that the State kills the nuisance gators. They do give their reasoning here.
Hopefully Larry won't be charged for anything! Until he approaches humans he should be fine but you can bet there will be someone stupid enough to get to close and then file a complaint. I wish people would leave them alone and keep there grandkids and pets away from the ponds,

I understand the reasoning why gators aren't relocated.
As far as I know, although he is a large gator, Larry just minds his own business and is not a nuisance gator.
So I hope that is not Larry's fate. Although with the media attention, he will probably be killed.

Remember the buffalo. Now only a few remain way out of reach.

I do remember the buffalo. I hope that Larry doesn't disappear the way the buffalo did.
In my humble opinion, we have a duty to protect our wildlife.

The buffalo herds weren't wildlife though. I think they were owned by The Villages developers, and relocated.
They were formerly located in many areas that are now prime commercial properties. One area was to the east of Bob Evans on CR466.
I miss seeing them. However life moves on, and commercial property is valuable. Now there is an apartment building there instead of buffalo.

So sad. The little Girl Scout who maintains his FB page is going to be upset.

Taken Out? Out of his pond? Or the big Taken Out?

Please let it be just The Pond!

Was taken out of his pond by the nuisance alligator program. I think we all know what that means.

I've worked at golf courses on which there were gators. When they got to be a certain size, they would remove them to places away from development. A gator that size can kill an adult human. Both the residents and Larry would be better off he he were to be relocated to an area that has not ben touched by humans.
They don't relocate gators

Too bad people just can't leave these magnificent creatures alone. Video taping and putting this on the news got him eliminated. I knew the need to remove him became inevitable when I witnessed crowds of onlookers taking pictures from 10 feet away. So sad we can't coexist.
