Default Mildew/Mold smell

Mildew/Mold - Not sure where it's coming from. In a patio villa. I can smell it in part of my living room & definitely in the garage, just in the last week. I've changed to A/C filter. Anyone have any ideas or whom I should call to check this out? Thx!

Did you recently have your carpets cleaned?

A few common causes are;

1) Garbage disposal- the underside of the rubber gets full up smelly gunk.

2) A cracked Air handler drain pan leaking condensate into the bottom return air duct below.

3) A dried up P-trap from an unused bathroom or laundry tub.

4) A malfunctioning AVP trap under a sink.

I would check these things first. Hope this helps!

I was thinking maybe some small animal got into the garage and died. That would give off an odor.

mold and mildew usually means water to me anyway...

Check your pipes for leaks under sinks, appliances ect...

maybe the washer/dryer is outside, check that as well.

Good luck with finding the issue.....water leaks are the worse.....
