It has really bothered me. I have no idea why anyone would be doing this, or even care.

Not being judgmental, just curious. Your box has a number; why do you need a sticker?

If you go to the US post office and have a box there, would you put a sticker on it? Have you ever seen stickers on boxes at a US Post Office?

Our mailstop was stripped of stickers and writing after it started to look like graffiti and included writing with magic markers. Most folks have not objected to the clean look and have found it not too difficult to remember 4 numbers or 2nd row 5th box from the end, etc. Been told we don't own the box so it is not appropriate to deface someone else's property.

What if someone decides it isn't necessary to paint your driveway or add personality to your name on your lamp post? Just because you don't care to have a sticker on your mailbox doesn't or shouldn't mean someone else can't.

I agree with Joyce.
I'm not sure why anyone would find stickers on mailboxes offensive.
The postal workers are fine with it.
It only takes a few seconds each day to pick up mail.
Live and let live.

I don't have a dog in this race, but this is a bit of an apples and oranges comparison. You own your driveway and your lamp post. You don't own the mailbox.

Age does not always come with maturity as a sure thing. There is no cure for stupid.

Dotti go to the $ store and buy a lot of bright colored stickers. Every time someone removes your sticker replace it with another one.

Better yet spray paint a small pink dot on your box that can't be peeled off. I'd like to see that on video, surprise, it doesn't come off that easy.

It could be it was removed by a postal employee because it would be considered an advertisement for a restaurant rather than just a sticker and advertising on government property is very much against the law. Other possibilities: someone was going to be driving through that area and wanted to remember the name of the restaurant or was from there and wanted the memory or it was cute and a child removed it. I would bet on the postal employee, though.

I agree, too many mailbox police! Is there not enough to do in TV, that you have to worry about a sticker?

ron122049 08-17-2014 04:51 AM

I could be wrong, wouldn't be the first time but I suspect it's a postal worker or sub for the regular worker. We had this arise up in Michigan when our local football team was in the state playoffs. Dudley Do-Right lives on!

Dotti

As Redwitch and Indydealmaker pointed out, it was probably removed because it was advertising.

Just find a butterfly sticker and you're back in the game.

That's handled.

Next? ;)

Actually, Postal Workers don't see your sticker. They are on the other side of box. Wish people would leave well alone. (not harming anyone, or anything) Instead, lets greet our neighbors when we are at the mailboxes. Let's act like a "smiley sticker"

Walter123 08-17-2014 06:09 AM

I doubt if the postal worker gives a rats behind about stickers. Let's put our pictures on the mailboxes!

nitehawk 08-17-2014 07:01 AM

I have put a "Pro Life" sticker on my mailbox -- it is sometimes removed - but not to worry -- I have hundreds of them
