How many would that be?

In this thread, it appears to be a dozen or so out of almost 200 thousand Villagers over a period of many years. Do you have information on a larger problem? If so, I would be very interested in reading it.

It is common in today's world with the internet and instant communications to feel problems are much larger than they actually are, because of the instant feedback.

You realize only a very small percentage reads, or even belongs to this website. You could take the number of posts on this thread, and then the number of active posters, then the percentage would be much different.

In 2007-2015 very few issues, 2016 was the start of mail issue for us. Now I get a nice picture of the mail that’s coming, but never see the actual piece of mail

we had problems with the PO delivering mail when we were living in Ft Lauderdale...a carrier was throwing the mail out that she had left in her bag when her 'shift' was over, so she could get to her part time job in time......Postal inspectors finally caught her

now we have as much mail as possible delivered electronically...give that a try

once in a blue moon we might get the mail for the fellow across the street here in TV, as his box is just above ours in the postal station...other than that, no issues

You can usually tell when the postal workers are present. They back into the parking spaces in front.
Our mail girl (Heather) in Charlotte must be the exception to the rule. In 7 years that we have been here, we have only had one package put in a locker that didn't belong to us.
I delivered it to the owner.
And I don't think we have had any lost mail. If so it wasn't at the postal boxes.
Also, if we get a package too large(and lots of time small packages) for the lockers it is delivered to our door in their personal vehicle.

I've lived here a bit over 4 years......Village of Santo Domingo. I find the postal worker(s) to be substandard in their performance. As of right now, I have a package in my mailbox that I can't get out. It fits in the back of the mailbox, but the door makes the front of the box about half an inch narrower than the back. I left a note to the postal worker on top of the box......let's see what happens. Also when I leave town for a week or two, I fill out a "hold mail" form, stating the date that I want my mail to resume. Three days after that date, I get my mail. They also jam mail into the slot, including envelopes that say DO NOT BEND into it. Oh, BTW, I also get other people's mail. We now have a slot for "miss-delivered mail" ....... I believe that it indicates that the post office does recognize that it sometimes hires idiots.
I refuse to accept continual substandard performance anywhere.

USPS Informed Delivery

Go to the USPS website and sign up for informed delivery. You will get photos of mail and packages coming to you in your email. There is a check box for I never received this piece of mail. That might be helpful as they take the photos at the hub before they get to the Villages.

We haven't been here very long but so far our postal worker has been great!

Lisamariatortilla 05-10-2021 09:28 AM

Yes I too have had many issues with my mail. My thought was that the real USPS employee was sitting at home collecting COVID money (not sure). But tampering with mail is a Federal Offense so I would think that mis-delivered mail would be taken a little more seriously.

Why Lady Lake?

I see most references here are to go to the Lady Lake post office. Is that where most of TV mail is routed-through? We will soon close on our new home in TV of Ashland and noted the Oxford p.o. as closest to our address. Will our main mail still be routed through the LL facility before arriving at our postal station?

Before people jump on here to say "just deliver it yourself to the person" -- which, both they and I have done -- I find all of these misdelivery issues to be both frustrating and concerning. In the subdivision I lived previously in the Lake Mary area, we had the same issue. Our HOA put up a page on our HOA website where each person could post the date and delivery problems they experienced. After one month, our HOA President set a meeting with the Post Master at the post office to discuss with specifics as all previous conversations and complaints went unheard as the misdelivery issue had been an issue for a very long time (i.e., more than a year). Problem wasn't resolved, HOA escalated to District Office and that finally resolved it. I don't know if there's a way for us to track individual misdeliveries to gain a report? I do feel that my experience in just the last 30 days with FIVE pieces of mail & packages misdelivered seems to indicate that the USPS employees aren't focusing on customer service. I'm going to speak with the post master at the Lady Lake post office as she may not necessarily be aware there's a problem. If you've had similar experiences, please post approximately how many times you're aware of misdeliveries and how often they occur. Maybe I've just had 30 days of unusual errant deliveries, but I've seen another posting on here relating to the same issue. I don't think expecting to receive one's mail correctly delivered is asking too much of the USPS. If it happened once in a great while, I'd overlook it; however, FIVE times in 30 DAYS seems excessive and that doesn't include the 3 priority mail packages that weren't properly scanned which makes 8 errors in 30 days. Thank you in advance for any relevant feedback that may be helpful to the Lady Lake Post Master.

The locker number is written on the key tag for us.

You shouldn't expect quality service when the delivery service contract goes to the lowest bidder.

I expect the issue is the end of the trip, where your mail is put in the box. We have been here 8-9 nine years. One mistake. It went to our neighbor next door and they delivered it to us. I must say I've met the lady who works in our pick up center and she is conscientious. Someone sent an out of state electric bill to my address and she asked me if, I knew anything about whatever the company name was that someone addressed
to my home.

My opinion, set up an appointment with the ???? whatever their tittle is and see them for a face to face. My first name is David. The tale of David vs Goleith there was no group
supporting David. No one helped him. The mob, they cheered what he did after he did it.

I agree with you that we shouldn't just accept substandard service. But, if others want to be accepting of substandard service that is respectfully their prerogative.

Re: holding mail
Suggestion, I used to get a lot of mail, for business. We used to stop the mail two days before. So if it didn't work we could go to the post office, where it was held and ask to speak to the manager. Where we used to live, the post office was walk-able from our home. A guess, it went right about 50% but on the follow up it was 100%.

As far as,"I refuse to accept continual substandard performance anywhere." Reality,
somethings are not important. Those that are, we need to decide what is involve to win
and what winning is. Nothing is gained by calling people idiots. Nor will you win anything. Just you will convince people who can help you to put your issue at the bottom of an every refilling pile.

Derogatory much. Disagreeing with the magnitude of a problem is not the same as saying there is no problem.

I heard no one hear tell you to ignore the problem, (well, maybe one person). Everyone suggested talk to the postal worker and if that doesn't solve it, then talk to the postmaster.
