Yes, thank you---that was him

I believe the last one you mentioned is still here. I respect your honesty and opinion but don’t share your point of view at all. That’s what makes the world go around. He wouldn’t be cold in a white frilly Seinfeld shirt.

Great Job! How could I forget Carl From Tampa? I’m getting old that’s how.

So many took a powder because they wouldn’t stand for the abusive garbage from others. I believe John W bailed out before and returned. He saved me a bundle $$$ when I bought a new car in Florida. Great Poster. Hopefully he’ll be back

J. S. McDonnell, Founder and then President of McDonnell Aircraft in St. Louis, would include an obscure word into an occasional memo to his vice-presidents and some directors. He would then find an opportunity at some time to use the word in a conversation with one or more them. He then would asked them what the word meant in the current context of the conversation. The first results of his experiment made it company policy that the ALL salaried personnel would be given a dictionary, this would include ALL salaried new hires. I still had mine after 37 years of employment there.

There was a poster who ran an ice cream place near Mulberry Lane on CR42 who was fun.

LiZa. She was rather active on the old Political Forum. Think she was banned for life eventually.

They are interested in buying in The Villages, we use this forum as a source to get information about where to buy, electricians, landscapers, tradesmen, etc. At some point, we don’t need this forum as much.

After we buy, our source becomes our neighbors. I see a neighbor putting in steps to the attic, I write down the guy who did the work, in case I decide to do that job.

Well, new member of pretty much any forum are people new to the topics of that forum...

And if I misconstrued your point about "newcomers and rabble rousers", I apologize...

From the guy who only joined 5 months ago.

I was thinking the same think. No value added. Only taking shots at an innocent post.

I agree. This type of negative comment is why they bow out.
I guess some will never learn.

You have to have a certain level of ....ummm........starch in your collar, to be able to survive any online Forum. This one is one of the kinder, gentler ones, but I was overwhelmed at what I thought to be quite innocent comments when I began here many years ago. My first mess occurred when I asked if the builder here was someone you could trust. Wowser, did I get smacked.

Now here I am many years later defending the Morses. lol.

You need to learn on any forum to try NOT to take things personally and be a very clear communicator. What some folks SAY sometimes is not exactly what they MEAN.

Thanks for remembering my brother in law, zcaveman. Great guy. He passed away 5 years ago.😪 His wife, my sister, passed 2 years ago.😪 thanks again.

We used to call him VPL. He used that name because he used the computers at the Belvedere library. He did not have a home computer.

At one time he added an egg or two to his diet, so I don't think he was a total vegan. I think he stopped with the eggs, though.

Don't know why he quit posting. Another member on here saw him using the computers at the library after he disappeared from TOTV. I don't believe he broke any forum rules, but he was very argumentative, and pushed a number of people's buttons. He could have moved on to a forum of like-minded folks.

An innocent post comparing newbies to rabble rousers...

Oh, and I thought we had settled that issue.

So nice of you to bring it back up!

He was a good man too, sorry I didn’t think of him right away to mention him. May they both rest in peace.

I enjoyed "GeeWhiz", who was here in TV for a short time before he passed away. Great sense of humor!

Great thread about some of the best posters. Thanks for the memories.

We spoke for nearly two hours when I still lived in New Jersey. The list of people who were so kind and helpful to us when we were trying to decide to take the leap was long. I couldn't remember Zcaveman at first but I certainly remembered him. He asked for my phone number so he could help me better. Great guy. I'll always be grateful

My intention when I got to The Villages was to be helpful to anyone I could assist. I sorta lost my way with that wavelength. My first meeting at Crispers was a memory that was PRICELESS. It was so hot, I was bleeding sweat and everyone else was just taking it in stride. That's the day I learned about hydration from 2BNTV who was also a valued friend for a long time. DRINK, DRINK, DRINK.....WATER! There were at least 50 people there. It was great.

Look at the beautiful (Mostly) memories that everyone contributed in this thread. I'm ashamed of a few that I missed like tomwed. I can't really describe him but what a funny and smart guy he was. One time he asked a question and I typed a reply and his response was, I asked you for the time and you built me a watch, shorten up your replies Nucky. I :1rotfl::1rotfl::1rotfl: laughed my tail off but truthfully he was correct.

To everyone who posted :mademyday:

I have been trying to think of his screen name all day. I liked him too. I met him at Crisper's.

Also, I can't think of the screen name of a guy (tall, youngish, gray hair) who was so helpful about IT issues. He also passed away a number of years ago. A number of us kept up with him via email as he was battling cancer. Maybe Gracie remembers.

He developed a really comprehensive handout covering every possible detail for newbies making the move to TV. I still offer it and give it to newcomers when I meet them. Very thorough—and he even revised it periodically depending on what changed.

Wiotte/RickeyD is probably still half of the current active members, under a gazillion new names.ha-ha I also miss Coldnomore, as at least he wasn't part of the echo chamber that so often rears its head around here and provided links and facts to back his unpopular dissenting views - which made a lot of the extremists look pretty silly. Of course, doing that just meant his time was limited. lol

i remember cold-no-more, i had some good chats with him, & we didnt need to agree on things to get along. a truly nice guy

Also; swrinfla. Steve from St. Louis - met him at a TOTV get together at Crispers in 2010 or 2011. Good poster and really fine gentleman. And "………………
RichieLion. The most argumentative poster to ever appear on this board. Used to enjoy tangling with him on the politics board, but he disappeared when the poly board was closed down the first time.

Great guy. I hope he's ok also.
