Read your policy carefully regarding sinkhole coverage or better yet - - - have your insurance agent explain in detail your coverage. If the sinkhole is declared a “catastrophic ground cover collapse” you should have few issues, however if not, you will have a deductible of 10% of the limit of your dwelling insurance. That is, if you paid an extra premium for this coverage. In other words, if your house is insured for $400,000 your deductible is $40,000 under this scenario.

good to know...but $40k is still ALOT of money.....for me anyway.....

Look sinkholes happen all over the world. Wherever there are large sections of Limestone Sinkholes occur. Now many sections of The Villages have limestone beneath the ground. Limestone = Sinkholes ( Possible ) OK, now relax settle down everything is fine.

The online news has now changed it's report to the sink hole is in the Village of Pennecamp, which is right next to St. Charles. The street they mention is Markridge Loop, which is on Cane Garden Jacaranda hole #3, which is only about 150 yards from Chalmer Terrance in Pennecamp where a sink hole happened about about 3 years ago that was on Jacaranda hole #6.

I agree paying 10% of your policy limit is a large amount of money. In the unlikely event that you are subject to a sinkhole on your property, hopefully it will be declared “a catastrophic ground cover collapse” and you will pay a “Normal” policy deductible of $500.

Yew, we wouldn't expect insurance to cover natural disasters. Insurance equals lobbyist, lawyers, and racketeering. Legal racketeering cause the greased it into law.

Lopez, Glenview, Cane and Pimilco Execs etc sink holes on man made lakes and near by house lots. Is this a coincidence and or possibly related to these liner based water bodies filled with non potable water from sewage treatment plants that's also going into the aquifer during the sink hole... Just wondering.
