Movie Forum
Do you think there is room for a "Movie Forum"; a place where we could rate movies we have recently seen in the Villages? No Country for Old Men which received many awards was the worst movie I have ever seen. > Can't believe the critics. Many people I have asked who have seen it thought the same thing. Thanks.

Re: Movie Forum
I have thought lots about this idea. My concern is that people who are not familiar with how to rate or discuss movies will talk about the endings and perhaps ruin the movie for others. Even though everybody has an opinion, not everybody is a "trained" critical writer. I think it could be fun if done properly.

How about if we all tell the endings of all the movies we have seen until Jan reveals the ending to that thread he started a couple of days ago? I was curious for awhile, but it could be that Jan is just playing "countin' down the hits" which is pretty easy to do when the word "sex" is in the subject line. Now, I am going to review a movie even though maybe I am not supposed to. I can be such a rebel. Last night we went to see The Bank Job. Mr. Boomer was happy because I was not trying to drag him to a chick flick. It is based on the true story of a London bank heist in the early '70's. It has lots of vile characters along with the standard issue lovable bank robbers. It seems there was a royal who needed to be protected from scandal, but the story grows arms and legs in every direction. The movie has a little sex, a bit of raunch, and its share of violence. -- all of which were "integral to the plot" -- as they used to bother to say in movie reviews. But what I found interesting was that all three of those things were handled in snapshot doses rather than to the point of total saturation like so many movies do. Our demographic has to love the clothes, the hair, and the music. We were all just so darned cute in those days. So anyway, that's my review. -oh, and we liked the movie. btw Speaking of our demographic, I saw Jessica Lange on television recently. She is 58 now. She was talking about a movie she is in with Kathy Bates about three women who are taking a road trip carrying a husband's ashes in his old Bonneville. I think the movie is called Bonneville but I can't find it anywhere. Of course, that one is a chick flick. Well, that's enough from me about movies, etc. Boomer
