Florida not NY

Fortunately TV is in Florida and NOT NY! Smoking is one of the the little freedoms that comes with bigger freedom

No smoking within 500 feet of square is more appropriate, many commercial buildings and hospitals have this policy and hopefully TV will implement this.

If you want the unedited opinions of other Villagers, this is a good place to post. If you want to change something in the Villages, posting here is not your best use of your time.

What did they say when you called the district office? Or did you - this site will not offer what your looking for.

Pachine58 10-10-2022 07:16 AM

I can’t say I have ever seen a group congregated by the ashtrays in any of the squares smoking non stop.
You are outside in the open space, so this sounds more like a whiner trying to infringe on others.
Mind your own business and live your life. Quit forcing your opinion on other peoples lifestyles.

I am not a smoker, but last I looked smoking was legal in this country.

Been to the Brownwood square for live music and farmers market several times and never noticed the smell of smoke. Including walking past the City Fire. Maybe some non-smokers don't detect as much as former ones?

at what point does the karen nonsense stop? Does any smoker have any rights any more? this is in the open air! Who cares. if you don't like it move away from it. It's really your problem that you walk towards that direction not anyone smoking.

what's next? no one within 1000 yards of the square shouldn't serve any red meat??

Lyn Wagner 10-10-2022 07:22 AM

Why should we have to be subjected to the cancer chemicals form there smoke, they should ban smoking from the squares. And they should allow smoking only inside the restraunts where they can all share their cancer chemicals with each other.if only smokers were aloud in the restraunts bet even the smokers couldnt stand the stink.

kuc.....so not true about 500 feet. You are a new member I've noticed. Don't start off your new post with a lie...will not be tolerated

Nothing as fanatical as a born again non-smoker!

Hi me to, same age span now at 64 I find it strange that anyone still thinks smoking is cool, and I considered myself a slow leaner.

I can’t stand the smell of smoke either but, honestly, this is a step too far. I appreciate that people can’t smoke inside restaurants and public buildings but this is an outside venue. We almost always have a good breeze here to keep the air moving, and this is still a free country. The square is a large area, if the smell is especially strong in an area, move to another spot.

Aqtlow 10-10-2022 07:43 AM

Hi with the explosion of people here in the Villages I do think that banning cars from the Squares wouldn’t be a bad idea, there plenty of parking lots for cars, and let golf carts park in the squares. Just thinking out loud!

So we should let people shoot up dope and smoke pot, snort coke outside the squares because we are being Karen’s if we don’t. Makes sense to . Lol really mr gold member

Has anyone ever noticed... (this is a for instance) Publix's employees can not smoke near their store so they go down the block and smoke near the Hardware Store. The Hardware Store employees go down and smoke near the Shoe Store. The Shoe Store employees go down near Publix and the circle continues.

If no one was smoking you wouldn't need ashtrays. Where are the butts now? On the ground. Filthy habit/addiction. 🚬

Quite a lot of people like that in our world, and more all the time. Heaven save us from the self-appointed saviors!

But there is a huge hypocrisy here. Ever notice that even the must virtuous of the anti-tobacco folks never call for making tobacco illegal? One would think, considering the dangers attendant to tobacco use so often voiced, that going that route would be the only logical thing to do. But that don't. Ever wonder why?

Over $12 BILLION dollars in tobacco taxes collected per year is why.

Not about smoking. It's the name. Could be several different interpretations of what it is.
Plus, it's more than likely a new account for a old member looking to start some mischief.

So, are you implying that you cannot enjoy your life unless you are making others uncomfortable? 😶

loufromnewjersey 10-10-2022 08:36 AM

She probably got here yesterday and already trying to impose her will. WWII, Korea, and VietNam everybody smoked and guess what they are all here
