Default Moving In Question

Hi All,

We're finally moving in!

Our arrival date will be 1/13-1/14.

I'm using a company called ABF They will drop off a 24 foot trailer in my driveway or street. I'll have 4 days to unload but will be done in a day. Is it OK to leave the trailer in the street for 1 night until ABF can pick it up the next day?

I've searched for info but can't find any.

Thanks!

I don't think you'll have any problem as long as it doesn't impede the flow of traffic. Just to be safe I'd give Community Watch a phone call to let them know.

WELCOME!!

From what I understand, no to the street if not on wheels so that it can moved if necessary; e.g., an RV is okay; a POD isn't. You can, however, leave them in your driveway for up to 3 days. However, I think defin8ly gave great advice in calling Community Watch. They should be able to give you the definitive word.

We used ABF ( great service) and they put the container in our driveway, much closer to the house so you do not have to carry the items from the street. They picked up the empty container the same day we called.

ABF will drop a 24 foot trailer in my Vermont driveway and I load it. They pick it up and leave it in my Villages driveway. If I use the whole trailer the total cost to me is $2295. For every foot of space I don't use they subtract $50 so I only pay for the space I use. The price includes all taxes and transportation costs.

You need to check with village watch NOW, for I dont think you can drop this ABF trailer in the street...needs to be in your driveway and needs to be out in 3 days. Highly suggest you physically be there when they drop off the trailer. VIllage watch monitors Pods and trailers fairly closely!

Never heard of them until I saw a trailer down the street from me in Buttonwood that has been in their driveway for a couple days. It does take up the whole driveway. They have it on an angle and it does not protrude into the street. Seems better to me than a pod as it holds a lot more.

We used ABF the beginning of Sept. In fact, we had the trailer unloaded in one day with the help of some Villages Charter School high school boys, called ABF to come and get it but it was late on a Fri of Labor Day Weekend so they picked it up at 8 on Tues. ABF was great, left it in the driveway right up to garage door. The Villages require you to have passed papers before it can be left there. No exceptions (understandable). We passed in the morning, paid extra to ABF for a guaranteed delivery time between 1&3pm (they arrived at 2). No problem about it being there 4 days except being kidded by our new neighbors about our "lawn ornament". We didn't even call neighborhood watch. It was an obvious move-in, one-time situation. If you need help unloading call Troy at 352-874-8958. Took us 3 days to load it, these kids were amazing unloading in 98 deg heat. Ahhhhh, youth!!

Congratulations on the move and welcome to The Villages.

We used ABF but it was their ReloCube which, by the way, was a wonderful experience on both ends of the move. But to your point, the ABF delivery driver told me that they park 24 foot ABF trailers in TV all the time. He said that when they are parked in the driveway they usually stick out into the road a little bit. Checking with TV Community Watch might be a good idea just to know the rules.

For what its worth, ABF did what they said they would, when they said they would do it, and was prompt, courteous, and professional. I would use them again.
