Moving to The Villages means smaller lots for most of us.

It is hardly a "huge" difference - only 20%. A fifth of an acre is hardly a large lot in The Villages, unless you have a CYV. It is very typical.

As we get older, we should look for easier ways to do things.

Less land equals lower maintenance.

I find it's much easier to write a check than do yard work.

Setting aside your fifth acre claim for a typical lot size, just a need to clarify.....a quarter of an acre is 25% larger than a fifth of an acre. Never said the difference was huge, just pretty sizable.

First of all, a fifth of an acre is typical. Whether you agree doesn't matter to me in the least. Secondly, a fifth of an acre is 20% smaller than a quarter acre. How you define the ratio matters. Also, you did reference the word "huge" in your first post when referring to a quarter acre so your choice of words was out there. However, it it makes you feel better, then whatever you say.

I'd prefer larger lot sizes, a quarter of an acre to start. There's not much privacy regarding homesites, maybe that's standard for 55 plus communities. My opinion only.

There are plenty of quarter acre lots or more here if you are looking for them. I think that may be the minimum lot size for a premier.

Never understand why bigger is better. What you do with it is more important.

This to you and to all reading who have not driven through the Village of Harmeswood, located north of the Savannah center off of Buena Vista. It has large lots and some very interesting and beautiful homes on much larger lots than in the rest of The Villages.

GG, you're on a premier lot. What size is it in comparison to a Harmeswood site?

Much smaller. Much smaller. Just right for us with three and a lot of "stuff" we thought we needed to bring.

Here is a link to a couple homes in Harmeswood. There are 1/2 acre lots there and some bigger.

Homes in The Village of Harmswood

In Bridgeport at Laurel Valley the smallest lot is a bit over 1/4 acre. The largest is a view lot that is an acre.

In Harmswood I couldn’t find any much under 1/2, including the two for sale right now. The largest are over an acre, and there are many over 3/4 an acre.

The only house I could find for sale in the Villages right now on an acre or over is in Hickory Hill Hammock, a village surrounded by the Hacienda Golf Course. The 1.6million dollar new house in Pine Hills being sold by the Villages looks like it may be on one acre also, but the Villages.com website does not tell you lot size.

There are still a few homesites available in Chathem Acres that are 5 acre sites.

We live in Laurel Valley and I cannot think of a lot that big.

Look on Realtor.com or Zillow, if you zoom in it gives you the size of each lot. Even the size of lots for houses that are not for sale. I was surprised to see my lot is 1/3 an acre.

The big lot in Laurel Valley is on the lake, it shows at just under an acre at .81 acres. A second one is almost 3/4 and acre and is not on the lake.
