Two bike lanes: one for normal cycling and one for those who want to "own the lane". Two pedestrian lanes: One for walkers and one for joggers. And one handicap lane for power mobility devices. Then, between center and side striping there would be 9 lines in each direction. Don't forget the markings to designate the lanes. Intersections would be interesting---how about a 9 lane RB---with 18 crossovers and a whole new bunch of driving rules.:a20:

I want concrete barriers also:oops:

If you read the news source the engineering firm getting another $6500 to restudy the study:jester:

Good. It was a bit esoteric, sort of mimicking Dennis Miller

I am afraid that whether its federal ,state or a CDD a politician by any other name is a politician.....and there is no end to what a politician will spend of other people's money. A dime here a dime there and pretty soon you are going to be talking about serious money and forget any budget stopgaps measures another $6500 fee because some CDD politician didn't like the first answer s/he got from these engineers. No justice no peace

I would gladly pay more for rest areas every 1/2 mile or so with bathrooms, a dog walk area, picnic tables, and maybe a little shack with a bar with all day happy hours.

I have read through the many posts on side striping and can not find answers to some questions: 1) Will the side striping be applled on the pavement (as opposed to the side curbing) 2) Is the striping slippery, both when wet and when dry?
I am a bicycle rider and feel the trails must serve everyone. The cost of the striping is not an issue to me but my safety is.

it sounds slippery

The stripping being discussed would be about the thickness of three sheets of paper. I doubt this would even be noticed in a cart, bike or walking. One of the drawbacks of the thermoplastic is when being replaced, it would need to be removed. One would not just put down another layer on top of the old.

However, thermoplastic will last much longer than paint and may be less expensive in the long term. This is what the district was commissioned to determine as the next step.

Why do people have so much trouble learning how to spell striping?

Freudian slips.

Even driving on multi-modals paths before sunrise and after sunset the grass's edge clearly outlines the path width . I do agree that there are some angles on the path where reflectors are beneficial in dividing the path lanes of travel but that has to do with dividing the lane in the middle to keep cart drivers in their proper lane of travel. Side stripping is a waste of money and I believe what is driving this is politics and nothing else...that and nonsense about liability issues. So if we need stripping then I am going demand better lighting on all multi-modla paths. I also want better signage warning me of hazards ahead such as the puddling of water of low spots on the paths and tunnels directions, and while were at it signs informing me that pedestrians are in the area as well as cyclists. Further I want neon signs erected above the pathways to alert me both of heavy traffic and approx travel time on the pathway due to traffic/construction problems and further........... Ialso suggest that The Village publish a monthly report of the safest and riskiest times of the day to be driving on the multi-modal pathways

:D:D:D:D

Perhaps we could join the MMPs' with the Interstate Highway System. I could drive my cart to Kalifornia, stopping at Denver to score some "grass".

I would like to add an additional lane for persons riding Segways, hoverboards, roller blades, and in-line skates! :1rotfl:

Saw a motor scooter the other day coming out of a tunnel. Well, they do call it multi modal...be careful what you ask for. Let's see; go ka rt, horse and buggy, off road motorcycle, radio control cars, golf cart with boat trailer, four wheeler, motorized skate board. The options are endless.

"When you’re proof reading, you are trying to trick your brain into pretending that it’s reading the thing for the first time. Stafford suggests that if you want to catch your own errors, you should try to make your work as unfamiliar as possible. Change the font or background color, or print it out and edit by hand. “Once you’ve learned something in a particular way, it’s hard to see the details without changing the visual form,” he said."
