In the U.S., these services are readily available. I use a pet sitting service whenever I am out of town for more than 1 day. I have used the same pet sitting service for 11 years once my former neighbor (who was my first pet sitter) moved out of state in 2002. Magic (my first cat) and Molly (my current cat) do quite well with my current pet sitter who is a real animal lover.

Exactly.
We would leave our cats all the time in the care of a neighbor girl who would come in and feed them, water them, play with them, change the litter box. Cats are mostly indoor creatures and nap their time away. Ours always were perfectly healthy when we would return.
The dogs would be put in a kennel......everyone boarded their pets when they were going on vacation.
Since our children have grown up and left home and the last cat died about 15 years ago, we are petless. It is a lot easier, believe me.
We can go where we please without worrying about them.....or the vet bills.
