to anyone having an outside gas line installed directly to a bbq insist on a quick turn shut off valve before the appliance. .this is the same safety measure that the propane tank shut off valve performs.

I am in Bonita and have natural gas they do run a junction in my house in the Attic of the garage and distribute the gas lines from there to the water heater the kitchen stove the dryer etc also regulators are up there.
I never saw this back home it was new to me it would not have even been legal back home. But I did add on for a outside water heater for my pool shower and a gas line for my summer kitchen and a gas line for my pool heater all from that attic junction.

I had the same reaction. Plus it is CSST in the attic...

But the code allows and there are tens of thousands of homes in The Villages built this way.

Exterior connections and to the attic are black iron pipe. Code addresses bonding to ground.

We used this group as well. We do not have natural gas in our area, so, with ARC approval, we buried a propane tank in the back yard, and lines run to our kitchen, with an extra 'pop up' for the summer kitchen we have now completed. The propane people come on a scheduled basis. but, we can call them if we need them to come earlier. No hauling tanks around

This is the perfect grill!

I have a Char-Broil Patio Bistro infared electric outside grill. It cooks as good and food tastes every bit as good as on a natural gas/propane grill with less to no flare-ups. I have one at my summer home which is several years old and still works like new. I just bought another one for our new home here. I would also get their vinyl grill cover. It is the heaviest well made cover ever!

Following is a copy of my review on Amazon. Note that a lot of the reviewers do NOT understand how this grill operates.
Food tastes every bit as good as on a gas grill but without the flareups and the hassle of running out of propane. The key to getting that charcoal grill type flavor is to cook some fatty foods in the beginning for the first few times to get the grill "gunked" up and smoking. The more you use it, the better the food will taste. My first grill is still going strong after several years of sitting outside. I would never go back to propane or charcoal.

Just a note about the users who complained about it not getting hot enough. Pay no attention to the thermometer on the lid. This is a grill NOT an oven or smoker. The temperature of the grid is what counts. You are grilling not baking. The ambient outdoor air temp will affect the thermometer in the lids reading rendering it meaningless.

I only cook on the highest setting. Give it at least 15-20 minutes to warm up. My burgers take 10 minutes per side to be fully cooked and steaks take only 5 minutes per side for medium rare. When cooking chicken I usually boil it until almost done and then finish it on the grill. This prevents it from becoming too dry. I do my ribs in the crockpot and then when the bones pull out easily, I slather them with BBQ sauce and finish on the grill.

You can use a heavy extension cord if need be.

Personally I want as few gas lines in and around my house, propane way too easy and away from the house.

Please don’t look up in some ( I don’t know if all same) CYV attic with gas services. Would want you to have heart attack?

Maybe they make good lightning rods? Especially the thin walled flex hoses? Make you wonder how could meet code in any state? You would of thought they at least had use black gas pipe?

You need a permtit and a plumber with a gas license. Try Torri Plumbing or Kiley & Sons. I highly recommend Weber. Ace Hardware is a very good source, plus they deliver and assemble it for free. Be sure to specify that it is for Natural gas - special order

You may have gas at you clothes dryer as well. But note, the jets in that grill will have to be changed as well. On balance it’s expensive and doesn’t buy you much . Get a second propane bottle and call it a day.
