Default Stop Signs

Anyone know the purpose of these red devices posted at the end of streets? I saw a golf cart nearly "fly" through one yesterday on his way to the postal station, I guess he was anxious to get the afternoon mail!
I have quoted many times the words of a police officer who stopped me for doing a slow and go at an intersection, "these signs are for YOUR safety as well as the safety of others" It only takes a few seconds to stop and look and avoid an unfortunate accident.

Anyone see the Villages Refuse Trucks fly through the stop signs??

It is my understanding that the Marion county sheriff's department has given out 49 tickets so far this week for spot sign and speeding violations for ...................GOLF CARTS.

They have also had a field day with speeding cars. The Sumter county Sheriff as well.
