Nothing better than watching a sweet little puppy enjoying the outdoors. I have a Pekinese and a pug… they love to get out …I'm looking forward to this new dog park opening. Do you have any idea when it will open?

maybe that huge portions and excessive eating leading to sky high obesity rates isn't the best way to live....

It's called freedom. If you don't like looking at obese people, then move to France.

GolfGirl122 08-18-2015 08:42 AM

Maybe I can donate a tree for the new dog park - next to one of the new benches. I think a European tree would be nice.

I hope your replies are facetious. It's not looking at obese people and of course people have freedom of choice, though I doubt anyone would choose to be obese. it's their health issues. Obesity leads to diabetes, heart disease, the list is endless. and tax payers pay for it via Medicare, Medicaid. Now children are becoming obese. It's a health issue.

Please stop throwing barbs at me.

Then don't throw barbs at my country.

As long as it's not invasive, I welcome it as well.

Bonnevie 08-18-2015 10:51 AM

seriously??

I said in France that people are more laid back about dogs. I said their obesity rate is lower. Show me where I disparaged the United States. I consider myself blessed to have been born here. I don't want to live anywhere else. I don't think I said anything to indicate otherwise. You keep directing "love it or leave it" remarks to me when I don't think it's indicated or called for.

so I ask you again, please stop it.

I'm sure you're blessed to be born here, after all this country is the greatest country that civilized man has ever created. You alluded to the fact that people in Europe are not overweight but Americans are. I don't disagree with you. What I don't like is the tone so generally used by many Americans in that we are somehow inferior or ignorant or stupid in many ways to the lifestyles lead by Europeans perceived by many Americans as superior to ours. I say we have nothing we can learn from the Europeans. If we have a lesson to learn we'll learn it on our own when we want and at the pace we want. I am not disparaging you specifically. Simply disenchanted with the general feeling of many that we are not different from the rest of the world, just an extension of the global oneness that many want to head into. I say, we among all others on this planet are exceptional and as such have saved others from global dominated tyranny and remain free from such tyranny because we are different and we think for ourselves.

I like the way you handle an escalating situation. You act calm and you speak intelligently. You have my respect.

Anyway four of them, closest to the entrance had the “name” plates installed. The gate was locked so I didn’t try to get closeup photos. This photo, looking from the gate end shows those four benches and how they are located in the small dog section. The benches on the far end did not have name plates on them.

Hope this helps you.

John took his time to meet with us on many occasions to get the dog park established. We are very happy and proud of Atlas Dog Park. Read the Rules and obtain them. Our dogs will be happy and our dog park will remain beautiful. Look for the Grand Opening of Atlas Dog Park soon.

Thanks. It looks like a very nice dog park.

I have no idea why you think I'm being negative. I simply don't believe in looking back. My ancestors came from oppressive countries in Europe and the heritage they left behind was replaced with the American heritage that was passed onto me. My surname is European, but I am an American first. That dear Gracie is not being negative, it's called Americanism.

I am excited for the new dog park. I've heard so much positive feedback. Will be keeping an eye open for the grand opening for sure!

I've read somewhere (sorry can't remember exactly where-I think districtgov.org) that the opening will be the same time as Rohan rec center which is some time early fall. Since we are building in this area I'm reading as much as I can to find out about what is going on. We are pretty excited about the Atlas dog park too! and so is our dog!

Dog Parks

This should get you to the appropriate phone number or maybe even e-mail address. I sent the Villages Recreation Department an e-mail about this at 7:45 AM, 8/21/2015. I will see if I get an answer. I always like trying to get things in writing rather than via phone.

Markam 08-21-2015 03:23 PM

While not in The Villages, I've passed a dog park in Wildwood that never seems to have any use. Shady, fenced and good sized. Don't know any other details. Just west of Powell on Huey.

see post #1
can find it any of TV maps (Moyers Loop and Belle Glade, not the new dog park)

Taltarzac725 10-12-2015 09:24 PM

I went by the new dog park today...

...and it is quite an attractive looking space for dogs and dog walkers. Quite a distance from Lynnhaven but well worth the trip every so often.

It is East past Belle Glade Recreation Center on Moyers Loop off of Morse Blvd. About 2 miles or thereabouts South of the Fire Station 44.
