I am still surprised that someone is driving a auto has not heard that you must change lanes in these conditions.........

The OP was offering a heads up to someone who may not have known the law. I thank all posters who share information about many topics. I believe most people previously knew of this law. Now, anyone who read what the OP had to offer and did not know of the law is informed. This is one of the many benefits of TOTV.

When it started it was required of Commerical vehicles and then extended to private vehicles. I was a driver for over 15 years and that was always the policy. I retired in 2007.

:pepper2: Its sort of difficult to enforce depending on why the police are over to the side of the road. Many times he/she can't leave to enforce the violation. Common sense would tell you to slow down and get over when possible.

I think this GREAT!!! Everyone who speeds next to a patrol car should get a ticket. Too many officers are killed each year by cars going too fast and right next to the patrol car.

We had two police officers killed on the highway in LI NY in the last year or so while they had someone stoped on the highway. Around here the speed limit is 55 mph but people drive at least 70mph, way to fast.

but laws must be reasonable and must include common sense. We need fewer laws (these are really just regulation.. heard about too many regs lately?)
When will the public finally figure out these are revenue laws and kick out every politician who refuses to eliminate them..
by the way.. NO politician will vote against these laws because they do not want to be accused of being against safety and law enforcement AND they are revenue raisers.

It is too easy to blame the government for anything.
Laws (regs) are for the idiots who have no common sense....................

This was all over the news last year or year before in ORlando. I believe it was Altamonte Springs that was ticketing all the vehicles for not moving over. They had channel 9 news set up to watch it so everyone would be aware of the law.

Heck it is courtesy to move over and yield the area to the LEO's
One of the first thing I learned when I got my CDL Class A back in 93. Always move over for Law Enforcement on the side of the road or for vehicles setting on the side WHEN it is safe to do so. If you can not move over then reduce the speed as stated. You never know when someone will pop out. It should be enforced alot more than it is.

The thing I can not understand is why do people slow down when they see a LEO driving down the road. Say the speed limit is 55, all the sudden people are doing 55 hit the brakes and now your doing like 45 or 40. Can not figure it out. If they are driving down the road and you are doing the speed limit why hit the brakes. :rant-rave:
