A suggestion: Bring your vacuum cleaners to my house and try them on my 8-year-old carpet to see if you get the same result.

Don't use the carpet setting on the vacuum, use the lighter setting for floors. We had the same Robles.

Thank you all. We figured it out. There was a suction adjustment on my Shark so that is much better. The Oreck is hopeless. Thanks for helping me figure this out. [emoji6]

I have the same problem. Have 2 different vacuums. What I do, is pull the vacuum towards you, while slightly pushing down on the handle thus raising the vacuum slightly. One of our vacs. has adjustable suction, but if you adjust it so it won't "grab' the carpet it won't pick up the dirt.
Our carpet is just too deep. We just hope it wears out fast.
