Yesterdy Maverick and I walked down Buena Vista to Sandhill golfcourse, turned right on St Charles Place There are barriers up-"road closed so no vehicles allowed"... anyway we walked, and walked, and walked... it was amazing... lots of new roads, more golf courses... all new Villages being developed. I swore we were going to end up in Wildwood. The road finally curved around an came back to Cane Garden and the new Premiers in Pennecamp. So, that area where they plan to build the library is clearly part of this expanding area of development. I encourage anyone to take a walk down there. Park your cart at Sandhill. Your jaw will drop when you see what is taking place.

No, the library is to be on the other side of 466A (south) on CR139. The area through which you walked, called Area 51 by someone in here, is amazing in its unexpected size. With the hundreds of new homes of all styles, the 3 or 4 or 5 new Exec golf courses, and likely a new rec center or two or three, there's a lot of development to be done before they cross 466A. In a 2004/2005 market, I'd say the whole thing would be completed, sold, and occupied by the end of the year (remember when they had 5 builders going full throttle?), but today I think we might have a couple more years north of 466A. Then comes an entirely new fantasy land on a surprisingly big plot of land between 466A and 44A.

Yes they own the land up to 139 and down 139 to 44a, with the exceptions of the house on the left. Villages goes around those house and back to the 139 by the life flight area
One of the Championship Courses will be near 139.

Yep it is almost like Area 51. Many of times we have had equipment almost back over cars that were touring the area, so they started putting up the road blocks, that is why they are doing that. Very nice area but still construction zone.
Alot of building still done on the south side. Espcially torward the Brownwood area.

Hi GMoney,

I've seen lots of posts on Brownwood, but never just where it is to be located. Or else, I haven't searched hard enough. Could you share the location with us?

Many thanks!

Kate

I agree. Wifey and I lived in a little town outside Orlando prior to moving here. And all we had was a branch library from Seminole County. But the librarians there at least knew how to order things via ILL. And were very computer literate. Ask these people here what the Accession number is for a book or reel of microfilm and they look at you like your speaking Tibetian.
Very sad for a public library. I wonder, does the library police ever come around and check on the workers there to see if they know what they are doing?

I am not in TV at this point, but for some reason I find myself getting quite excited about this new library.

And now, SABRMnLgs, please bear with me while I explain about those accession numbers that seem to have caused such harsh judgment of those nice people working at the small library that is in TV right now. I am explaining this in my nice quiet voice and I am smiling sweetly. And my glasses are on the end of my nose.

An accession number simply indicated the order in which something was added to the individual library's collection. Accession numbers were used in the days before barcodes. Accession numbers have now gone the way of the card catalog with those little drawers and 3X5 cards. New librarians might not know what an accession number is. It might be like saying, "Hey, do you have any 45's?"

So anyway, that's what's up with those accession numbers. And it's OK.

I cannot get out of here though without telling a little story. I heard about a librarian who on his last day of work went a little berserk. It was in the days of the card catalog with the drawers. It was said that he grabbed drawers from the catalog, pulled the rods out, climbed up on top of a table, and began to fling catalog cards all over the place. It was his last day. I do not know if that was by choice. But it is to be understood I think.

Why????

............ Sumter Library System doesn't have the book you want, they will order it for you from another library, anywhere in the state, that does have it. That sort of thing requires a visit to your local library branch though.[/QUOTE]

When we lived in Oviedo (Seminole County), all we had to do to get something via ILL was to go online and request it. Since Seminole Cty is so big, it also gave you a choice of which library (main or branch) you wanted to pick up your item.
Why is it necessary to "visit your local library?" Do they not have computers?

across from the old Sonny's on Hwy-44. If you take 301 into Wildwood then take Hwy-44 east torward Leesburg. Once you go past Cindy Chevy and where Sparr Building Supply is, all that on the left side or North side of 44 is where Brownwood will go in. Buena Vista will go down to 44 just on the east side of where Brownwood will be. That will be a great access to The Villages from 44. Morse will come down and join 44 where cr-468 is.

Thanks - I'll pull out my map and see just where that is. Still getting my Villages legs a bit.
