Default New Posts Cutoff Time

Not to be disrespectful or upset anyone but who or what determines the cutoff time for New Posts?

They used to last until I cleared them all out. Now they seem to be on a different time schedule.

Just because I sign on and glance at them does not mean that I have read them. I had plans on coming back later tonight to look at them and see what I wanted to respond to but they are gone and the earliest post does not jive with the last time I connected.

Please let me know if it is now taboo to check new posts unless I want to stick around or a long time.

I am not really . I just don't want Dale to think I am unhappy with the new site. I would just like to know how the New Post Cutoff works now.

It might mean that I have to access this site with a different methodology.

I think it will translate into "not easy".

We will have to scan each topic we like to view for entries and responses instead of just looking at New Posts like we used to. The good news is that you can go to Subscriptions and look for new replies to posts that you have started or replied to since the new system started.

Last night I went back and subscribed to some of the older posts but decided that was too much work. All of the old posts we were connected to are for all practical purposes gone.

If I understand caveman's question, posts will be shown as your have read them when they are ten days old, whether you have read them or not.

To see new posts you must be logged in, and not just reading as a guest. After login, click on New Posts in the top menu bar.

Another way: Click on Quick Links and slide down and select Today's posts. You will see a list of todays posts. You have not read those in bold. You have read those that are light faced.

Today's post listing contains a line of text showing the posts below which posts have not changed since your last visit.

The line reads, The threads below have not been updated since your last visit or since forums have been marked read.

In unread threads, click on the down-pointing chevron at the beginning of the line to see the first post that you have not read in that thread. That way you do not have to wade through a bunch of posts to get to where you left off.

Tony, you'll get us all educated yet!
I just love the new Screen of Death icon. But where did our little guy go?

Another week or two and we'll probably all be raving about the new TOTV. Over 300 members on yesterday .... a record. You Admins are definitely doing something right.

The down pointing chevron doesn't always take me back to where I left off in a thread. Sometimes it skips a few replies, so I always have to look back a little bit to make sure I didn't miss anything. The only other thing that isn't working for me are the smileys. I was able to use them once, and now they don't work for me anymore. I try clicking on the down arrow next to the smiley face, but I get nothing. I can not access the text color either. Other than that, the new format has been great.

We want the guy. We want the guy.

And Tony........wait don't go!!!!!!

I read what Village07 said about not having to go to the watchamacallit to post pictures. Does that mean I can now go get the three trillion pictures of my grandchildren out of my own computer and post them?

GG,

If you click on User CP on the top of the page here, then look on the left hand side of the screen. You should see Your Profile. Click on that and you should see your home page. You can create photo albums with your pictures there. Go to my profile page and check out my photo album with my grandkids!
