This is a very old rumor.

[QUOTE=mulligan;797422]Once again, for the folks in the back row, there is a new villa neighborhood going in on the northern portion of that property. As of this date, there are NO plans/permits for commercial property.[/QU

Guess some peopl's definition of huge can vary.

Seems like overload on the Western side of The Villages -- Pinellas and Grand Traverse. If Grand Traverse had Home Depot, etc. that would make sense, another grocery does not IMO. Eastern side of TV is desperate for another grocery. Colony is a zoo now, and will be made much worse with Fruitland Park Villages. Anyone hear anything about building a grocery on the Eastern side?

Lots of plans change in 5 yrs. Until it happens, it's just a rumor.

I believe that was the plan/concept 5 years ago. If you went to the developer's commercial web site there was a proposed Anterim Dells mall slotted for that space. If you go to that web site now, all references to Anterim Dells are gone.

Plans do change over time. I think that one thing the developer is learning as time goes on is that there is much less demand for commercial space than what he had originally hoped. The Buffalo Ridge commercial area is huge but has not seen any new development there in years. The Mission Hills area was originally supposed to be commercial space and it appears that demand never materialized and instead it was rezoned residential. I think people holding out hope for a Macy/Dillards type mall will be disappointed.

Your are so right. Are those big stores opening any stores anywhere?

But all references to Antrim Dells are not all gone. Case in point is The Villages Commercial Property site with a 2014 copyright. The site says Antrim Dells is a 500,000 sq. ft. power center. A power center is defined by Wikipedia as "...an unenclosed shopping center with 250,000 square feet (23,000 m2) to 750,000 square feet (70,000 m2) of gross leasable area[1] that usually contains three or more big box retailers and various smaller retailers (usually located in strip plazas) with a common parking area shared among the retailers. It is likely to have more money spent on features and architecture than a traditional big box shopping center."

I tried to post the url to The Villages Commercial Property site but it wouldn't take, sorry.

Now that I've seen the plans for Grand Traverse Plaza I'm really confused because I don't see enough room for 3 or more big box retailers in the plans.

The Villages Commercial Property Sales & Leasing

It says Antrim Dells is a 500,000 sq. ft. power center. A power center is defined here:

Your link did not work (just brought me back to TOTV). However, when I googled the commercial site and went to it directly, under the tab "locations" which used to have Anterim Dells listed, it now is missing.

That is so strange because I can use the link to access the page but when I cut and paste the url, it doesn't work. That's technology for you!

I was able to display the page from the quote box in NJblue's response.

1) The 2014 copyright is placed at the bottom of every page automatically. The date automatically increments by one on Jan. 1 each year.

2) The page you tried to post has been replaced by a new page that no longer refers to Antrim Dells. I would post a link to it, but just as you experienced, we wouldn't be able to use the link.

3) The plans have been changed for the area which was originally named Antrim Dells Mall (the large area west of Powell Road between 44A and 44). The south half will be Grand Traverse Plaza and the north half will be courtyard villas which Chopper said will be called Village of Collier at Alden Bungalows.

4) Because of #3, the name Antrim Dells will be used by TV, but for a completely different property. Antrim Dells is the name given to the courtyard villas that are being built east of Brownwood - east of Buena Vista and north of 44.
