Just a joke. Don't get angry.

A friend who runs a singles group told me that when one moves to TV and gets a village id, at that point they ask you your marital status. This somehow goes on your record and the leaders of the singles groups know your status. So what your suggesting can't happen.

I'm not sure where this info is kept but I notice that on our village id there is a U/L number. My wife and I have an "M" in the number. Could a single person here check to see if there's is an "S" on theirs? Thanks.

You are either very lucky or just never noticed them. Been her 9 years and were turning them away regularly. Slowed down as time went on, but we still have at least one a month or so. Even had a few that would come back once or twice just in case we changed our minds.

Supposedly ā€œillegalā€ in TV for door to door solicitors. It’s all about enforcement…who to call and by the time they show where is this person?

Maybe at one time this was true, but in the Sumter County part of TV most of the roads are public and owned by the county. The exception would be the villa sections in which the roads are owned by the district.

I must be missing something ,I’ve owned 6 different homes in villages all in different neighborhoods and I have never had someone come to my door soliciting anything,, but single guy whenever you come pay no attention to all the negatives and have a great time , from a very happy single 83 year old guy

They gave up on you

About 20 years a writer Andrew Blechman visited The Villages and wrote a book 'Leisureville' about his experience. It was published in 2008.

One of the main characters was 'Mr.Midnight', who was single and seemed to enjoy living here. Maybe if you get the book you can copy his lifestyle.

When we moved here, I got the book from the library and read it. A few weeks ago, we were at the same library and they were selling a hardcover copy for $1, so I snapped it up.
