In 1988 to 1989 I lived in Spring Hill, that where it's located and sold real estate. At the time they had built a man made white sandy beach and you can go inside for $5 and swim in the same springs as the mermaids. Attractions | Weeki Wachee Springs https://www.bostonherald.com/wp-cont...-OS.jpg?w=1093 Since 1989 when I use to go to the beach at WW, they have since turned it into a water park. This is only about a 75 minute drive from TV. Take I-75 South and exit Route 50 West to Brooksville. Stay on 50 through Brooksville and all the way to Hwy 19. The springs will be right there on the corner of 50 and 19. If you continue on 50 you'll end up at Pine Island County Park and Beach, very nice place. If you go south on 19, you'll go through Hudson, New Port Richey, Tarpon Springs, Palm Harbor, Dunedin, Clearwater, Largo, Pinellas Park and end up in St. Petersburg 60 miles later. https://i.pinimg.com/originals/0c/00...46eb474adb.jpg https://weekiwachee.com/wp-content/u...f3c832fb1b.jpg |
If you are going outside the Village, Don Garlits Museum of Drag Racing in Ocala is really interesting, especially his private car collection that is housed in a separate building on the grounds. Not far away, and a good indoor activity if its hot or raining.
