Classic Rock, Oldies, fewer commercials

SCasey 05-04-2016 07:22 AM

On my Ipod, I have everything from alternative rock, classic country, rock, oldies, to soft jazz...you name it. Just about everything except rap and "contemporary country". I don't see anything country in the new stuff. :)

Classic country would top my list, but a mix of all three would work for me. A once a week 2 or 3 hours of only country classics is a good option.

Anything but rap. :D

24 hour political analysis. Oh wait - I mean classic rock 60's and 70's with some country rock thrown in for variety.

I believe that there are enough hours in a day, days in a week and weeks in a year that all music genres can be effectively accommodated for everyone's listening pleasures.

Failing to establish program blocks might do both the station and the listeners a disservice. And there is nothing to stop the station from establishing a rotation of the blocks so that listeners are exposed to a genre they might find surprises them pleasantly and vice versa. As well, no one wants to have to wake up to listen to their faves at 3am all the time! ;)

Just something to ponder.

format

This program was once called Jukebox Saturday Night, then the dumb%#% laid him off , so he started his own show. Listen on Saturday night (from your computer) That would be my vote for every day. Rockin' Ron does it right. IMHO

Unless they are just doing this as a hobby, the station won't survive without a robust lineup of commercials.

What??? KIFM changed format? Man, I loved that station. Used to listen to it on the drive home every night after work. Helped to ease the stress of the day. :sigh:

I'm with you MMMark. I'd love a broad format too!

Not Necessarily, if they are considering an LPFM (low power FM) station, they would not be allowed to run commercials. They could however, solicit donations and sponsorship's much like what you hear on a PBS station.
