Classic hits from the 30's, 40's, 50's, etc.

When we moved to TV 12 years ago, The Villages radio station, was playing only 50's and 60's music.....a lot of the Big Band Era bands and singers.........wow how great that was! Now they are playing more of the 80's and 90's music....no melody, but a lot of moaning and groaning and a lot of screaming.

I have found two very good Oldies FM stations: 89.5 (Gene Martin Show.......almost all Big Band Era music) and 99.7 a mixture of oldies.

Check 'em out.

I agree WVLG has changed their music programs the last year or two. Could it be the "newbees" moving in and us ol' folks slowly passing on? I still like music from the 50's & 60's. I even heard my grandson (21years old) listening to our music recently. Maybe decent music will return someday!

Only music from about 1995 and onward, you can find the old stuff everywhere.

And please, no FoxNews Radio.

Answer: Rocky n the Rollers and Uncle Bob's Rock Shop. The first band Rocky, performs 50's and 60's rock, which is the mainstay of the current developer owned station WVLG.

UBRS features music that is considered classic rock by most people. They can perform the Beatles and lead right into Jimi Hendrix to Led Zepplin to Pink Floyd followed by the Eagles.

Currenly I've only found one classic rock station WIND 95.5 out of Ocala/Gainesville. However, the station becomes weaker as you move south, and since I we often find ourselves headed toward Orlando, Clermont or Tampa I put XM/Sirius Radio in my car and really love it. I've got 18 present channels that I can go to at anytime. I would focus on the area between The Villages, Leesburg, Clermont and west Orlando for an area that classic rock could succeed.

I've been involved with music sales a good part of my life. I owned and operated a record store in Savannah, Georgia for almost ten years and operated a mail order CD/Record business for 20 years.

***More GREAT Old Rock Music*** Rocky and the Rollers are great Showmen but I would ask for MORE LIKE UNCLE BOB'S ROCK SHOP! They are FANTASTIC! More in that vein!

Agree 100%.

Are those the only choices we get? Is it because we are (gasp) old? IMHO, there are lots of stations around that already play those types of music. What about past and present alternative? (examples might be INXS and disturbed) But if those mentioned are the choices then i vote for classic rock. we did have some great music when we were younger! Thankx for asking.

A little soft jazz in the evening.

Options include: Easy Oldies, Classic Country and Classic Hits.

Give us your thoughts! Thanks

I would like all: easy oldies, classic country and classic hits, NO hard rock

Let's go with Classic Rock from all eras.

Exactly. There is an excellent classic rock station from Orlando, WMMO - 98.9. A similar format would be great.

DELTADWN 08-29-2016 02:12 PM

I personally prefer 60-70s music, and maybe a little classic country.

Waldo71 08-29-2016 02:52 PM

Stream the music

I would like to have the music streamed on the Internet, so I can listen to the station while traveling.
