THEY don't have any planned festivities on New Years Eve at any of the squares. They have not had any for the more than dozen years we have lived here.

People are going to have to get drunk and stagger around or try to drive in other locations.

The squares were free for the TREE LIGHTING. ALL THREE OF THEM. Two have VIP tents that seat a limit of 50 people. Look at this picture of all the people who didn't PAY for the tree lighting at Brownwood.

Brownwood tree lighting was good. sad they didn't have the candles this year. when I was there I only saw about 6 people in the vip tent. to me it wasn't worth that kind of money. I had a good seat and was able to see most of it.

What are your memories of celebrating New Years Eve when you were...….younger?

We got dressed up; him, suit and tie, me something sparkly and dressy and usually went to a party hosted by friends, equally dressed up and had yummy snacky foods and alcoholic drinks and lots of conversation and went home quite tipsy before one o'clock.

When we had children old enough to drink and still under our influence, we insisted that they went to where they were going and stayed there for the night so as not to drink and drive.

No, it's 10:30. The advertisement for Katie Belles NYE party with Rocky and the Rollers said the music was until 10:30. Does that mean everybody leaves at 10:30 or you just sit there for 90 minutes?

Nowadays asleep at least one and a half hours before midnight!

Back in the day, partied all night, went to work legless.
Think I slept until it was time to go round the pub and recover.
To the best of my memory, I think they said I had a good time!

We always took call on New Years Eve. We celebrated at Midnight, and saw the New Year right through til 0700.
