I let my subscription to the local/slanted paper lapse last year.
After 6 years, I realized that since I wasn't looking for a new house and I was only reading the sports...why even bother with it? I've found a home delivered subscription to the WSJ, which although doesn't include a Sunday paper...is so much more informative. The only drawback is, that I sometimes struggle to read all of the articles that interest me...in a single day. |

Aside from the editorials there is less politics than any newspaper I have seen! Some people project their hatred of those editorals on the whole paper. Life is not all politics for the healthy villager. Most media would be better served covering all news. The paper is an incredible value. |

But I would, knowing me and all. ;) |
I think paper newspapers will be a thing of the past in the next 10 years... same thing as phone books, landlines, and many brick and mortar stores... just my humble opinion!

I'm up early, so I just read my neighbors' paper.
Most of the time I return it to their driveway. |

The Villages Daily Sun has a lot of very useful sections especially the daily activities at each recreation center-- Zumba-- and the volunteer opportunities on Sunday and the places of worship on Saturdays. |

Local Newspaper
The Sun is very one sided regarding politics. I subscribe for the local news and puzzles, then receive a national newspaper for balanced viewpoints of more controversial topics like climate, education, and politics.

Just looked at the first 28 pages of Sec A.....which contains 28 pages. Of those 28 pages over sixty percent contain advertising. How about giving us news.

It's more of a thick daily advertisement of houses for sale by The Villages, with the occasional bone thrown in...to a specific demographic. :ohdear: |
Why keep killing trees and filling recycling centers with old newspapers? We get all our news on line from all the major sources. We don't need coupons or ad and ad from surgery, hearing aids, new teeth and golf arts. The Daily Sun is cheap for a reason, mostly advertising with some local news thrown in. Most, if any national news is syndicated.

I enjoy the Local newspaper.
Lots of reminders about what is going on in T V that day! |
I am one of those that reads or skim's the paper every day. I ignore the articles or advertising with which I have no interest. The rest of the paper is very informative. However, I would like to see more political articles that cover not only U.S. politics but world politics. There are a lot of things going on in the rest of the world that do or could affect us. We do need more detail about the U.S. rather than just a paragraph or about a topic.
