Odds are it is the control panel for the door. Someone put it on lock and your friend didn’t know to look there.

Have someone use a heavy duty extension cord and plug the cord to the garage door opener into a known wall plug that is working - could be shorted or bad wall pug where the motor is plugged into right above the motor. Good Luck

Now that you have tried all other options, run an extension cord from the garage opener to another outlet, and see if it works.

As the garage opener is tied to one specific outlet, that outlet may have a red light on letting you know that it's bad. I ended up having to have that outlet replaced.

I had to have 2 breakers replaced in my new home in The Villages. Also when the electrician came out he told me you have to push the breakers to the right and snap them back.

If you know the breaker number even thou the breaker doesn't show the flag turn it off then back on and see if that works.

I've had this problem a couple of times. The first place to look is the GFI outlets in the garage. I know you checked, but do it again. One of mine was somewhat hidden. Be certain the green lights are on the outlets. Second was a loose wire in the outlet that controlled the openers. It was intermittent. When I pressed a plug into the outlet, it would affect that connection. Good luck.

Lots of references to checking for voltage or 'get a meter'. To most people this is effectively meaningless.

Never though of that. Could their be a fuse in the opener too? I do not think I have one but I could.

It could be another GFI between the ones you checked and your mains if there is more on that circuit.. Doesnt make much sense that both went down, has to be in the circuit between the motors and your mains..

Add one more who said get the proper tool to diagnose the problem.
