No Shows
Posted a set of golf clubs on here, a pretty good price. I had 4 different people say they were interested. Even though I posted pictures, price and a good description of their condition, I still was asked endless questions about the item, all of which were answered in the description. To make matters worse, all 4 said they were coming to see them and buy them, and, all 4 never showed.
How bad are the people who answer classifieds on this site, especially people living here in The Villages? |

Judging by the reading skills on this site, you shouldn't be surprised at the questions. People tend to reply before reading.
As for no shows, that's why I don't sell things online. People think that their time is more valuable than yours. If they contact you again, raise the price. |

There are many people on this site that do not live here and just like to shake things up a bit. Post them for sale on your village Facebook page.

I do not understand the no shows. How hard is it to come back and say you are not interested.

Are you sure you posted your golf clubs for sale on here, it only shows you have posted just one message and that's this one you wrote about "No Shows"...

Quite simple, people don't care. They do not respect your time. When I sold things for clients I was very clear about how items were sold. More than once I had someone get angry because they wouldn't show up when the promised and the item was sold. In my experience, people outside the Villages were more likely to show up because they hoped to get a quality item for a good price.

I don't think this has anything to do with The Villages. The same thing happens pretty much everywhere. It's human nature. Some people are prompt and dependable, and some are not.

I am really confused, when I joined, you had to have 10 posts (I think) before you could post anything for sale in the classified section, so I am not sure what happened here. Possibly the OP just had a text message that he had clubs for sale, but these were not in the classifieds. Also, as noted above many people may not read all of the message (or any or the replies), and then comment. As for the no shows, I cannot speak for others, but when I call I show up, cash in hand, sorry for your experience.

I have sold several items on TOTV classified and all who said they would come did. Maybe covid19 is making people cautious.

So, what you are saying is, if you are afraid of Covid, you become a liar?

so put it out on Craig's List, spend a little coin and put an ad out there
chances are they are worth a whole lot less that what you think they are worth anyway...relax if having them around bugs you, gift them to a charity, they'll eventually sell them if they are actually worth anything |

Whenever I sell anything online that needs a visit by a prospective buyer the "I'll be by to see it sometime today" will never work for me. I always give them a 1hr window of their choice during my availability time and say "if you're not here between x and x I am going out." I won't wait more than an hour unless the prospective buyer calls me with a short delay for a logical reason. My favorite response to an item for sale is "is it still available" and I reply "yes" and 8 out of 10 times they are never heard from again. Why ask ? If someone is REALLY interested they will get there fast because "hold it for me, I def want it" will NEVER work for me unless they send me 50% payment up front electronically like by PayPal "Friend" (not reversible) or Zell or Cash App.
