Windows are up and a/c or heaters in winter are ON for the post-50-year-olds - who are the ones MOST likely to hit a 2 wheel vehicle ( that being scooters, bicycles, AND motorcycles. Conclusion, today loud MC mufflers MEAN almost nothing toward safety. If they meant ANYTHING significant in the way of safety, then I believe that Honda and Yamaha and etc would be loud. Also, some company would make electronic noise for bicycle riders. That does NOT happen, thus proving that Harleys and some Kawasakis are just making their motorcycles LOUD for sales purposes to almost deaf, but very macho John Wayne types. Maybe they SHOULD buy a loud horse with no muffler on its exhaust.
