Let's get back on topic" IMO it means the dead, illegal, the brainwashed, and quadruple Voters will turn out and steam roll the party that brought, gave, and stole the once great county. After all Joe BItme called it. I just feel sorry for the people that voted him in so many times!:censored:

I have friends who are farther left than I am right and if they (or anyone) can actually justify their positions, even if different than my own, while I must disagree with their positions, they should indeed exercise their rights. Those who vote straight “feelings” and are void of logical thinking are a danger to you, themselves and our entire country. While I did not say it in my original post, I hope they find something else to do tomorrow.

Too bad Mr. Spock can't vote. He would have met your logical criterion.

I have no idea how you came up with the notion that if someone reaches a conclusion different from mine that I think that they have no intelligence. One of my friends is a genius (I'm not) but he was unable to justify his left-leaning positions. He argued instead from an emotional level. Decisions based on emotions and "feel good" with no logical basis are a danger to all of us and the future viability of America.

Thanks. You make me feel good to be a Democrat.

So you believe that our nation should be lead by leaders whose decisions are based on emotions?

That's a good question. I used the Spock reference, because he was the only one I could think of who was purely logical and he's fictional. Emotion of some degree is involved in most decisions; it's human nature.

So, let's see; opposing equal rights for gays and women is a logical issue? I could go on and on, but this is not a political forum and you catch the drift.

Because I have a left-leaning friend who was a genius, that you believe that emotional argumentation is the right way to debate (and vote) or just because it “feels” good to be a Democrat?

Your arrogance is overwhelming. You are a logical god.

So, if you are pro-human rights, equality and all that other liberal bullcarp, your decisions are based on emotion rather than logic? Sorry, I've heard too many vote for either side because "if it was good enough for my father, it's good enough for me;" "I always vote the party ticket;" and so on and so forth. People rarely vote logically. If they did, history would be far different. We would have had no Truman, Eisenhower would never have been elected and who in their right mind votes in an actor whose only qualification was being head of an actors' union as governor of the wealthiest state in the Union at that time, let alone elect him president to give a few examples.

Using the criteria given by the OP, no one pro gay rights should vote tomorrow. Nor should a single mother unless, of course, she plans to get married in the near future, I guess. You definitely should have the "America love it or leave it" sentimentality of the protest era. Only those with the middle class values of the fifties should vote.

According to TedQ, if you can't be logical in making selections, you probably shouldn't vote, either.

Between you two, not many folks would be allowed to vote regardless of eligibility, the Constitution would truly be just a piece of paper, the Bill of Rights irrelevant and every military individual who died fighting to maintain freedom here and abroad may just as well have committed suicide and saved the expense of training, etc.

The right to vote is given to American citizens who are non-felons. Other criteria such as having to be a white male, a landowner or even literate was declared unconstitutional a long time ago. It is okay to vote illogically or emotionally. It is okay to vote even if you don't have the same viewpoints as your neighbor. It is even okay to be befuddled by the thought process of another voter. But to even remotely imply that certain categories of voters should not vote is obscene.

I sincerely doubt I will be happy with the results of tomorrow's election on many issues but, as I have done in the past, I'll swallow hard and accept the decisions made by the majority of those who voted and just hope we can survive until the next election.

I wonder if the Moderator is on vacation. Political and personal remarks are certainly on this thread. Neither are allowed. Oh well.

:BigApplause: "Equal rights for all Americans".....such a difficult concept for some!
