Here's a link to information about the Harris lakes chain which is in Leesburg, about 1/2 hour from The Villages. There are a number of marina's in Leesburg. It's a lot closer to TV than Mt. Dora.

Hi Senior, I am still a TV wannabee and doing everything I can to get there as soon as possible. In the meantime I survive living vicariously through TOTV and all my great friends on TOTV. I understand your feelings about Vermont. We lived in Vermont for only 2 years, 1989-1991 in Rutland. I had been in Tokyo with Tuttle Publishing and they sent me home to the USA to their head office in Rutland. We fell in love with Vermont and still talk about our life there a lot. And its funny but despite the fact that TV and Rutland are so completely different in every way, they both have the same friendly, neighborly, and quality of life factors that make life wonderful. I hope you do move there and we finally get down there. Would love to meet you.

Boating
Senior Citizen:
If you want to think big, you can tow the boat over to the St Johns River at Lake George (google lake george) and you'll find a 250 mile long river that ends at Jacksonville where you can pick up the intracoastal waterway and go up or down the coast on mostly protected waterways. Or, you can tow down to Palm Harbor Florida, (google palm harbor) and put in there and go down all the way past Ft Myers on mostly protected waterways. All have plenty of marinas and places to stay if you want to get off your boat for a while. I think it's about an hour and a half drive to the River and about a two hour drive down to Palm Bay from the Villages. An earlier post showed an entrance to the Gulf with a Marina in Silver Springs, I believe. |
