Which opens first: Publix or Bridge ?
Greetings-
As both The Magnolia Shopping Center, the new Plaza on Warm Springs Avenue which will house the new Publix and The Water Lily Bridge, the golf cart bridge constructed over the Turnpike are close to completion, which in your opinion will open first and when ?
I'll go first -
Water Lily Bridge will open on February 22 & Magnolia Publix will open on March 22. (that's 2021)

I think the shipping store is already open in the plaza, at least the open sigh is illuminated. Also the Publix liquor store passed final occupancy inspection so I would say it should be open very soon.

I wish them luck but Publix should realize, the vast majority of Villagers don't drink alcohol.

Doesn’t matter which opens first. But I will drive down 15 minutes to the new Publix, to shop in the nearly empty store...
No matter where the new grocery is, its worth the drive to shop in an empty store, and get the great deals on sell by today. It’s a ritual since 2010. Then back to online shop.

What Makes You Think It's Going to be Empty?

As long as those of us south of 44 have waited for Magnolia Plaza to open, what makes you think it's going to be empty? There are 10 villages down here now and we all have anxiously been waiting for the Plaza to open! I think you will find it far from empty! We've heard a Publix opening date in February.

I don’t even shop at Publix. They are overpriced. I don’t understand the obsession with Publix?? You get the same name brand items at Walmart from $1.00-$4.00 cheaper! They should have put a Walmart grocery store there. Publix must have a “deal” with the villages!

My wife works at Publix and is assigned to Magnolia when it opens. It is scheduled to open on February 11th.

Also heard the date for Publix of 2/11. They are installing the shelving in the store so makes sense it is soon! The bridge completion is expected to coincide with the opening of The Villages Golf cars in April. The Villages Golf Cars told their sales people the tentative schedule about a month ago at their monthly meeting. Base on the progress and the work that is remaining, I think this is also very possibly true.

Not true. I was a loyal customer of WD because I heard the rumor that Publix was very expensive. Out of necessity one day, I went to Publix because it was closer to me. The bakery, deli and vegetable sections have more of a variety and the prices are the same. With what you save on all the bogos, it evens out with the few cents more you may pay for another item. The workers are more helpful, store is cleaner and its 10 steps above WD.
